Happy New Year everyone!
Through research I have learned that all the chemicals needed for happiness and sadness are made in our brains in response to requests from the body. It's not the other way around. Just as there are happy chemicals there are sad chemicals and our bodies can get habituated to the sad chemicals over time. Let me repeat that, our bodies can get used to to the sad chemicals over time.
There are receptors throughout our bodies and they tell our brains what we need. The brain is the pharmacist. The short version of this complex system is that through determined exercise we can wake up our system and begin to recalibrate our chemical processes. It's the only way the body works.
The brain just does what it's told. Meditation is a good thing but try to concentrate on the body and the breath. All the thinking in the world won't change our mental state. The body is the master!
So we need less screen time, better sleep good diet and more exercise. It's important to exercise the neurotransmitters (happy chemicals) into our bloodstream every day and see what happens. Nearly every person in any condition can start a small repetitive exercise that can be expanded as strength returns.
Muscles excrete all the chemicals we need from the brain but only at low levels without stretching. The more stretching the more good feeling chemicals appear. Just like magic, but it's chemistry.
