Vancouver Intermediate Men’s Championship Round 2 🏐
The Inter Men were in action last Thursday evening against Eire Og at Burnaby Lakes. The game started really well for the lads with them getting a goal and couple of points within the first 10 minutes of the game.
Eire Og did grow into the game as it went on and was pressuring the defence but for the most part our defenders were up for the work and we ended the first half strong
Second half started how the first half ended with Eire Og having the better possession of the ball but as the game went on the work rate and intensity brought by the lads was unreal. They really had to dig in and with some really nice two pointer scores from the forwards we got ourselves back in front before the full time whistle 💪
Our Player of the Match was Full Back Paul O’Neill who had a brilliant game. Paul blocked about 7 shots alone in the second half and went home with the finest spiciest ramen noodles you can buy in Safeway. Hope you enjoyed Paul 😂🍜
The lads remain unbeaten in the Championship and now have quite a break before Round 3 against Fraser Valley Gaels on July 15th 👏

This was the final game of the day last Saturday when the Sun finally came out. The ladies started the game strong with getting scores early on however Van Isle had an eye for goal.
A serious effort from the team but Van Isle ended up winners on the day and went back to the Island with the points.

Vancouver Ladies Senior Championship Round 2 🏐
Last Saturday our Senior Ladies were in action against Eire Og out at Burnaby Lakes. The ladies started the game really well and moved the ball through the hands to set up scoring opportunities throughout the first half.
There was goals galore in this game with 9 goals scored between the teams. With the second half in play now Eire Og started to get ahead and ultimately from there they ended up winning the game.
The ladies showed tremendous heart, determination, and character throughout, battling right to the final whistle and never letting their heads drop. There were plenty of positives to take from the performance, with some excellent passages of play, hard-earned scores, and a work rate that never wavered. Next up is ISSC in Round 3 for the ladies.
St Finnian’s 3-06 - 6-11 Eire Og

Vancouver Senior Men’s Championship Round 2 🏐
The Senior Men were out Saturday morning against Eire Og. Throw in was 10.10am at Burnaby Lakes which started the first of three games for the Club.
The lads started the game really sharp with points and a goal within the first 10 minutes but as the game went on it started to even itself out. The Senior Men were missing quite a few regulars from the line up which meant there were a few debutants in the side which was great to see 👏
The second half started just as quick as the first with both teams putting the ball over the bar in quick succession. However the game didn’t go our way and Eire Og got the win.
The lads put in a serious effort with missing a few lads and can be seriously encouraged that the game was quite even and will look forward to the return fixture later in the Summer.

Vancouver Intermediate Men’s Championship Round 1 🏐
A brilliant start for the lads with a great win over Fraser Valley Gaels. The lads put in a strong performance, with scores coming from all over the pitch. Some excellent goals scored by our forward line who didn’t stop the entire game. The standard was high from start to finish against a very strong Valley side who made us work for every ball.
St Finnian’s 4-13 - 0-12 FVG
And finally, congratulations to our first Player of the Match winner, Seamus Sweeney. He not only takes home the honours, but also the much sought after and prestigious prize.…the famous bag of spuds 🥔😂

Vancouver Senior Ladies Championship Round 1 🏐
The Senior ladies were up against Fraser Valley Gaels last night in their first round tie at a sweltering Burnaby Lakes ☀️
The team were missing quite a few players last night but that didn’t stop the 15 that took to the field from putting in an unreal performance from start to finish. A serious effort from everyone in the heat to get the win.
It was a battle with a very strong FVG team but goals were the difference here and the ladies definitely brought the shooting boots. A great start to the Championship for the Senior team.
St Finnian’s 3-07 - 2-09 Fraser Valley Gaels
Well done to the team and management 🟣🟡

Vancouver Senior Men’s Championship Round 1 🏐
The Senior Men were in action last night against Fraser Valley Gaels in what was an extremely close game right from the beginning.
Played in a Sun soaked Burnaby Lakes, the game was end to end and with the new rules being introduced in Vancouver for the first time, it played a major part in the game. Both teams were having good returns on two pointer opportunities and it kept the score close right to the full time whistle.
John McGarvey was lethal from the dead ball converting four 2 pointer opportunities to keep our score ticking nicely
The lads dug in and fought hard to get the win against a very strong Fraser Valley Gaels team, winning by two points. Great to see a few new faces who have joined the Club this year in the line up also 💪
St Finnian’s 0-19 - 1-14 Fraser Valley Gaels
Well done to the lads and management on an excellent start to the Championship. The Senior Men are in action next on Saturday, May 30th against Eire Og 🟣🟡
