Back in town after a much needed week on the island. Good food, drinks, summing, biking, yoga, and an absurd amount of spikeball with good people😌😌
I completed my mini challenge right before I left so I could have this week to fully relax and rest!! I’ll do a bit of a recap of that mini challenge on my story this week so keep an eye out!

Hello friends! Finally back posting after a busy few weeks of finishing off my school semester and getting started at F45 point grey. I’ve been getting hella steps, hitting 5~ workouts a week and have been steadily leaning out over the past few weeks. It’s crazy what walking all day for your job can do! Take this as your friendly reminder to move more. Sitting all day does a number on your mood, energy, posture and the list goes on. Get outside, go for a walk, take the stairs, your body will thank you for it ❤️

My only goal as of recent is to listen to my body. Half of my days at the gym are spent doing scoliosis maintenance: self myofascial release, hanging, scapular depressions, and transverse abdominal strengthening.
And that is MORE than ok. Listening to your body is so important. Our lives are filled with stressors, all causing a rise in cortisol. Intense workouts ALSO raise your cortisol levels which can be an addictive feeling, thus why some people love HIIT, and hustle culture is rampant! Raised cortisol interrupts sleep, growth (muscle growth too!), and suppresses your immune system. Thus, ensuring you are spending adequate time in a parasympathetic state to lower your cortisol levels = increased growth and overall well-being!!
TLDR: at time when life is high in stressors, choosing slower workouts and prioritizing rest is extremely beneficial and will aid your progress more than pushing yourself through an intense HIIT session. Get your sleep, focus on your deep breathing, stretch, walk, or do some light lifting. Your body and mind will thank you and you will come out better for it!
