We held our first Contact Partner Yoga workshop in 2009 at a small family run studio in Crescent Beach. We were fans of Acro Yoga, and its predecessor, Contact Yoga, trained with the founders of each, and offered the practice to Vancouver yogis. Within a year, we had a dozen sold-out workshops all over the Lower Mainland and calls to present at multiple yoga conferences.

The underlying premise of the practice was that it was open to ALL relationships – friends, siblings, couples, parent & child, and even willing strangers. Workshops were offered for families, more acrobatic practices, retreats, and of course more intimate couples-only practices for Valentine’s Weekend. For 11 years, these were the most popular recurring yoga workshops at multiple studios. I’m grateful for the level of interest and trust from every student and always loved seeing so many familiar faces returning over the years.

I’ve been lucky to offer these workshops with extremely talented co-teachers, who each brought their own expertise and voice to the practice. For the larger events, we had wonderful teaching assistants to help keep everyone safe and laughing.

It was a sincere pleasure to help people learn to fly and bring this practice into their relationships – whatever relationship it might have been. Thank you for flying with us.

This page has been quiet for some time. Our last workshop was in 2019. Since then, I have moved to the Sunshine Coast with my family and have changed careers (link below) – if you are thinking of moving this way, let me know if I can help.

I hope you are staying safe and healthy.

The International Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism announces that our beloved teacher Thich Nhat Hanh has passed away peacefully at Từ Hiếu Temple in Huế, Vietnam, at 00:00hrs on 22nd January, 2022, at the age of 95. We invite our global spiritual family to take a few moments to be still, to come back to our mindful breathing, as we together hold Thay in our hearts in peace and loving gratitude for all he has offered the world.

"The spiritual trip in this moment is not necessarily a cave in the Himalayas, but it's in relation to the technology that's existing, it's in relation to where we're at, it's relation to issues like pollution, political interest and activism. It’s all part of one package now.”

For anyone challenged by the heat wave in BC, there is a yogic breath designed to help cool the body. Stick out your tongue and roll it like a straw (if you can). Inhale through this "straw". Drawing the breath across the saliva cools it as it enters your body. Exhale however you like, that is inconsequential.
I know this sounds ridiculous, but I promise you that it works. I've used it in the heat and humidity of the tropics.
If you have trouble sleeping tonight, try it for 5 minutes.
Namaste cool.
