Productivity is key. Breakdown the things you are doing and ask yourself:

👉 Is spending time on this going to get me closer to my goal?

You will be surprised with the number of things that keep you busy but not moving the needle forward to achieving your goals.

Networking is the essence of job hunting. Make sure to utilize LinkedIn to its maximum potential.

👉 You can easily connect and chat with potential employers

👉 Connect with people who have title “manager” or “leader” as those might be decision makers in the hiring process

👉 Connect with people who are a few years older than you, they tend to give valuable advice if you relate to them

👉 Connect with University Alumni especially with ones who are within 1-3 years of your class

Like if you agree!

All the best

The biggest mistake I used to make when I first graduated was sending job applications anywhere and everywhere!

If there is one advice on job search I can provide, it will be
➡️ hand crafted 10 job applications will go along way than a 100 generic random applications

👉 Make sure to understand the job post

👉 Include keywords in your resume

👉 Add a cover letter to make it more personalized

👉 Reach out to the company and network with people

👉 Ultimately, imagine if you had one chance to get hired in one company, what would you do?

I wish you all the best!

Don’t make the same mistakes I made when I was writing my resume in the past

1️⃣ AESTHETICS MATTER? NO. Don’t over complicate the resume/CV design, it doesn’t matter. What matters is your qualifications to the job

2️⃣ NO ONE READS A RESUME? NO. Well, yes there are ATS or screening software. BUT!!! Do you imaging a company would interview people without actually reading their resumes/CVs? It will be a waste of the hiring managers time to interview people who were not properly screened beforehand. There is always a person reading the resumes/CVs

3️⃣ ONE GENERIC RESUME/CV IS ENOUGH? NO. don’t be tempted to have a one-size-fits-all type of resume/CV to throw-in in every application. Customize your resume/CV as there is someone reading it

4️⃣ INCLUDE EVERYTHING? NO. Recruiters don’t care about a 2 week work you’ve done in Grade 11 at a grocery store, unless it is relevant to the job posting! Make sure you only include relevant information to the job posting

Let me know in the comments what you think.

Like and share if you agree.

You are a recent graduate and looking for a job. I know how it feels to be stuck in this phase. I’ve been there.

In order to not get stuck in this phase, and actually land the job that YOU WANTED you need to follow a process::

1️⃣ Resume and LinkedIn Profile: this is your personal brand that explains to the employer who you are. When creating these, think that you are telling the employer about yourself. They don’t know you, so focus on your strengths and achievements

2️⃣ Apply for the job: through company portal and through LinkedIn if possible. You need that company to keep your information in file.

Before jumping to point 3, check out my YouTube channel where I talk in depth about the process. Link in bio.

3️⃣ Networking: this is by far the most important part. To increase the odds of you landing a great job. YOU HAVE TO NETWORK WITH PEOPLE. Reach out to recruiters, managers and team members in the prospective company. Chat with them, be genuine about your intentions that you would like to know them.

4️⃣ Interview: prepare for most commonly asked questions. Prepare examples from your own history. Be authentic. Approach it as a conversation

5️⃣ Follow Up: After the interview, thank the interviewers for their time. Follow up with the recruiter for next steps and timeline.

I wish you best of luck
