Tiger Camps

Last Saturday night I has honoured to have been inducted into the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1979 St. Mary's Huskies CIAU National Champions. It was a week long celebration in Halifax which included a dinner with both the 73 and 79 St. Mary's National Champions. Of course we were missing the late great Percy Davis and Rick Plato was coaching his Dalhousie Tigers at Memorial University and had to miss the occasion. It's hard to believe that it was 46 years ago.

This coming Monday night right here in the Tigers Den this years squad will test their game vs some of the Tupper greats of the past. Tip off is at 7:00! Parents, former players, managers and fans alike come on out to cheer the old and new alike.

The PAC has informed me that while the July camp was full, August registration is down. Still time to sign up.
Tupper PAC is thrilled to announce that registration is open for summer basketball camps. Camps are led by Coach Gourley who coached the Tupper Secondary School Senior Basketball team to numerous city championships and provincial appearances over the last 25 years. Originally created to ensure Tupper youth could access lower cost basketball and build sports skills and connections in the summer, we hope that lots of Tupper students participate in this fabulous program.
Camps are open to any youth entering grades 8-12. Please spread the word!
The Tupper School gym is unavailable for camps this summer, so Gourley Basketball Camps will take place at Creekside Community Centre this year, booked for two weeks in July and August.

Well that's a wrap on the 23rd year of camp and while it put an extra strain on my time fund raising for hours every day, on top of camp, as always the youth made it all worth while! Great group of kids and talented on top of that. It wasn't all about basketball - community, your family comes first, then school, then basketball. Still working on the fundraising. we are between $1000.00 - $1500.00 short but will clarify with PAC later in the first week of school.
All the figures haven't been added up as of yet but almost 200 youth participated over the six weeks.

Thank you to all the former players, parents, my old teammates and concerned citizens who made donations already. A sincere, heart felt thank you.

Still fund-raising so if anyone would like to make a donation please PM me and I will give the details on where to send donations as the event bright is now closed.
