A new chapter (long, sappy post alert ‼️ - this has been a long time coming… )

~I wanted to open a garage gym for a long time. I envisioned a place for people to feel welcome, comfortable & safe while exercising (especially women) And hopefully find (some) joy in fitness. I wanted to help people: set goals, do hard things, find their way back to their bodies and gain confidence. And generally make people stronger. The fitness industry is saturated with so much and I was hoping to offer some clarity. Even just a small sliver of wisdom, and just share what I know.

~And the support I received from this community & town was amazing. is a very special place. And will always have a place in my heart.

~Although many of you have cursed me and/or said things like: “you’re so nice, yet so mean,” “You destroy me,” “do you lay awake at night thinking of torture exercises” “you’re really good at your job” or one of my faves, “can I leave now.” 😂😂 I still like to think it wasn’t all bad. If I made you laugh or smile at least once, I did my job and I’m okay with the curses.

~I am grateful for every single one of you who have walked through my doors. You let me in.
You trusted me and shared your amazing selves with me. Thank you for that privilege. I’ve loved seeing all the progress & growth.
(And maybe you’ll never go to a trainer again :p

I’ve had many laughs & cries in here.
Many hangouts and brainstorming sessions.
And many friendships formed.
It’s a place I’ve been going… for the past five years.
I’ve spent a lot of time in here.
And I’m going wrap it up in a lovely bow now & say see you!

So. Stay tuned. Follow me along in my next chapter and adventure. I’m sure you’ll still see me around ;) keep going after your goals! Vancouver here I come

Hello December!

What’s everyone up to these days?! It’s cold and I’m definitely missing the warm cycling weather. Here’s what I’m feeling right now:

~What I’m reading: Crescent City Series 🌙 & Incidents in the life of a slave girl

~What I’m watching: White Lotus & New Girl (again)

~What I’m listening to: the latest Beyoncé, I’m obsessed!! And after seeing them live 😍

~What I’m looking forward to: having some downtime in December 🏖️ 📚

Happy Hump Day! Did you know?!

~People who have dogs are more likely to meet physical activity requirements as there is a sense of obligation to their furry friends 🐾

~ Researchers have found that owners who have a strong bond with their dogs are more likely to engage in dog walking 🚶‍♂️

~ With dog walking being an outdoor activity, humans also get the added mental health benefits of being out and in nature 🌳 and can help combat anxiety, stress and depression

~ Dogs can support & motivate physical activity at all ages 🐩

Don’t have a dog?! You’re welcome to take mine for a stroll anytime! I promise you’ll get a good arm workout 😉 to when Pip was teeny 😭

Happy Monday! This is your reminder to make sure you stay hydrated! Especially with the temps climbing again this week 🥵

Tips for hydration:

~Wake up and drink a glass
~Bring your water bottle with you everywhere
~Pick foods high in water content like melons, peaches and vegetables

One clear way to know if you’re dehydrated… when your p*e is dark, start drinking that h2O 💧 😉

Love to see this summer weather (finally)! It’s gonna be a hot one this week folks ☀️

If you’re coming into the gym, please remember:

✅ water bottle

✅ hydrate before, during and after workout

✅ dress appropriately (light colours/sweat wicking/breathable materials)

✅ eat some extra water-rich foods like watermelons 🍉 and cucumbers 🥒

✅ Fans and doors will be open & blowing and workouts will be kept in the shade 😎

I did it! 😁 🚴 💪

Cycled 153km with 1300m of elevation. Took 5 hours & 20 minutes at 29km an hour

Going from a strength based sport like powerlifting and literally switching gears to cycling, was not an easy transition. I’ve trained my ass off these past four months and I’m super proud that the training really did pay off. And those hills will always be hard.

Thanks to my hubs for being supportive and literally dragging me along and giving me a few boosts uphill, coach

The entire experience of the ride was pretty incredible and I think I would do it again.

Now… for my next goal?! 🤔

Oh 👋 We are already halfway through this year! Where does time go?!

❔Did you do what you said you were going to do at the start of the year?

❔If you didn’t accomplish what you set out to, why not?

❕Often times, New Years resolutions get thrown away by March 🤷‍♀️ a few things I see Happen:
- losing momentum from being sick or on vacation
- goal is no longer relevant
- Other things compete for your time

To be successful: ⬇️⬇️⬇️

❕Goals have to be specific, time based and realistic

❕Goals also have to be meaningful to YOU; what’s your why?

❕Be intentional with your time & plan accordingly

❕Pick one thing and stick with it! (I’m very guilty of picking too many things >> …)

❕Re-evaluate when needed and parking lot something for a bit. It doesn’t necessarily mean never, just not now

Here’s a look at mine from January. I’ll have another checked off by this weekend 🚴 (and I’ll be reevaluating a few)
