BCMCL Official page of the British Columbia Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL), Canada The regular season runs from the mid Match to the Labour Day weekend.

The British Columbia Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL) was founded in 1914 by seven founding member clubs. It is a competitive league and is known for its scenic cricket grounds, most notably Stanley Park, Vancouver, B.C. Currently, the league has 84 teams (including junior teams), which are organized into 9 divisions. The games are mainly held during the whole of the summer, against teams in the same division. At the end of the season, playoffs against the top two teams in each division are held, in which teams compete to move up in the division. Teams that end the season at the bottom of their division are relegated to the lower level. The league also holds other T10, T20, and Six A Six tournaments during the season under the Special Events banner. Players are selected from the league to represent the Provincial, and National teams. The league rents grounds from the cities of Abbotsford, Burnaby, Chilliwack, Noth Vancouver, Burnaby, West Vancouver, Surrey, and Vancouver. League currently has one turf pitch.

Dear BCMCL Members and Club Delegates,

The British Columbia Mainland Cricket League belongs to its membership. When our members have questions, concerns, disagreements, or ideas about the direction of the League, we believe those matters deserve to be heard and discussed openly, honestly, and respectfully.
For this reason, the BCMCL Executive is calling a Delegates Meeting and Open Forum.

Date: October 6, 2026
Club Delegate Registration: 6:30 PM
Call to Order: 6:35 PM
Location: Newton West Community Room

The proposed agenda is attached for your review.

This meeting is being called with a simple purpose: to listen to our membership, answer questions, provide clarification where needed, and discuss together how BCMCL should move forward. The agenda includes important matters affecting our cricket community, including the 2026 season, BCMCL's relationship with Cricket BC, transparency and decision-making, membership concerns, discussions regarding the possibility of a new league, governance and rule changes, and planning for 2027.

Our Doors Are Open

If your club has concerns about BCMCL, please bring them forward.

If you have questions about decisions made during the 2026 season, please ask them.

If you believe something should have been handled differently, tell us why.

If you have suggestions for 2027 and beyond, we want to hear them.

Leadership should be prepared to listen when its membership has concerns. We may not agree on every issue or every decision, but disagreement should never prevent respectful dialogue. The BCMCL Executive will be present and prepared to listen and address the concerns of our members openly.

We also ask our clubs and delegates to come not only with questions and criticism, but with constructive solutions. If something needs improvement, let us identify it and work together to improve it.

Invitation to Cricket BC

BCMCL will also extend an invitation to Mr. Arvinder Khosa of Cricket BC to attend this meeting. There are questions within our membership concerning the relationship between BCMCL and Cricket BC and how cricket should move forward. Rather than speaking for another organization, we believe direct and respectful dialogue is the better approach.

We hope Cricket BC will accept our invitation, sit with our membership, listen to their concerns, answer their questions, and participate in a constructive discussion about the future. BCMCL is prepared to answer for its own decisions. We welcome the same spirit of openness and dialogue from all organizations serving our cricket community.

Before We Talk About Division, Let Us Talk to Each Other

There has also been considerable discussion regarding the possibility of another league. We believe our membership deserves an open conversation about this. If there are problems with BCMCL, let us identify them clearly. If rules need improvement, let us improve them. If greater transparency is required, let us create it. If decisions need explanation, let us explain them. If our processes need improvement, let us strengthen them.

At the same time, we need to have an important conversation about how a league can operate fairly and consistently. Every organized league requires rules, procedures, accountability and a process for dealing with disputes and discipline. There will inevitably be occasions when a club, team or individual disagrees with a decision.

The question for all of us is:

How do we build a system where rules can be applied fairly, decisions can be questioned through a proper process, and disagreements can be resolved without creating further division within our cricket community?

If a rule is unfair, let us change it through the proper process. If a decision is incorrect, let there be a fair process to challenge it. If BCMCL makes a mistake, we should be prepared to acknowledge and correct it. But whatever system we establish must apply consistently to everyone. No club, player, executive member or individual should be above the rules, and no one should be treated differently because of their name, position or relationships.

That is the discussion we need to have together. Before our cricket community becomes further divided, we owe it to our clubs, players, officials, volunteers, supporters and future generations to sit together and make every reasonable effort to address our differences.

One Community. One Conversation.

This meeting is not about one individual, one club, one executive, or one particular dispute. It is about the future of our cricket community. Presidents will change. Executives will change. Delegates will change. Teams will win and lose. Decisions that seem enormous today will eventually become part of our history. But the institutions, principles and relationships we build today will affect cricket long after our individual roles have ended.

So please come.

Come with your questions.
Come with your concerns.
Come with your criticism.
Come with your ideas.
Come with your solutions.
And most importantly, come prepared to listen to one another.

BCMCL's doors are open. Our Executive will be there to listen and answer. Let us give dialogue a genuine opportunity before allowing our differences to divide the cricket community we have built together. We look forward to seeing every member club represented.

Important – Club Representation

Due to the limited capacity of the meeting room, we ask each club to confirm the name of its designated delegate.

If a club wishes to have more than one representative attend, please contact BCMCL in advance with the names of the additional representatives. We will accommodate additional attendees wherever space permits.

Thank you for your cooperation and, more importantly, for your commitment to the future of our cricket community.

** BCMCL Post Season T20 **

Qualification and Impact Player Reminder

We’ve received a few calls about these rules. Under the published 2026 format, the top two teams from each of the eight groups qualify for the knockout stage—16 teams in total. Top two from every division will qualify and then qualifiers are ranked 1 through 16 based on the standings, with No. 1 playing No. 16, No. 2 playing No. 15, and so on.

Impact Player: Each team names its playing XI and four substitutes at the toss. A team may use one of those substitutes as its Impact Player during the match; using one is optional. The captain must notify the umpire when introducing the player. The replaced player cannot return to the match, and no more than 11 players may bat for a team. An Impact Player may bowl up to four overs in an uninterrupted innings. If introduced when a wicket falls partway through an over, they cannot bowl the remaining balls of that over.

Captains, please review the full Post Season T20 rules and confirm your team lists before the toss.
