It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially to students who have grown so much and become part of our dojo family. Oliver & Jo-Jo, watching you both develop, not just in skill, but in character, confidence, and spirit, has been an absolute privilege.
Although you’re both moving away and moving on to new chapters of your journey, you always have a home at West River Karate.
Thank you for the memories, the effort, and the heart you’ve given to your training and to our dojo. We wish you all the best in your next adventure; and we know you’ll continue to make us proud wherever life takes you. I hope you keep training hard, and never stop growing. OSSU! ❤️

To the students, families, and friends of West River Karate.
As we welcome 2026, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been part of our dojo community. Your dedication, support, and spirit continue to make West River Karate more than just a place to train — it’s a family.
May this New Year bring you strength, focus, and balance both inside and outside the dojo. Let’s continue to grow together, push our limits, and uphold the spirit of karate with pride and humility.
Wishing you all a safe, joyful, and inspiring 2026!

Our dojo did an incredible job this past weekend at the 24th Annual Sato Cup and had some incredible results. With 19 athletes, we brought back home a total of 43 medals: 17x🥇, 11x🥈, 15x🥉, and both the Junior Male Grand Champion 🏆 (Kai Lim) & Junior Female Grand Champion 🏆 (Ava Choi)
Congratulations to everyone who worked their butts off to earn a medal this weekend. There was some good wins, tough losses, and good lessons to take forward with us from this weekend’s experience.
Thank you to all of the parents who supported not only your kids, but the entire dojo as well. We definitely could not have done it without all of you.
Many thanks and much appreciation to Shihan Sato and Sato-Ha Sh*to-Ryu for continuing to run this tournament for the last 24 years.
