It is the end of an era as the Metro Select League existence as it has been known ends following the completion of the 2017-18 Season. The league has been in operation since 1985 and has produced some great players and provided the highest level of play for the youth players in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island over the years.
The league has many people to thank but none more than Peter Price who has been a part of this league since it began in 1985 and while not all people agree with each other there is one thing that Peter has always done for the players and teams in this league and that is do everything to make the league the best for the players and the teams.
Over the years the MSL Committee which I have had the pleasure of being involved with and seeing first hand for past 22 years has seen many changes and innovations that have been adopted by all leagues in youth soccer and in many ways led to the development of the BC Soccer Premier League today, which continues to evolve.
I would like to thank all the current and former MSL Committee members from the Metro Select League and Girls Metro Soccer League over the past 33 years for the dedication to the players and teams of the Metro Select League and wish everyone the best with the new direction the District Chairs have chosen to take the game.
And I would like to thank the many Referees, and the referee assigners who without them the games would not have been played, thank you!!
It has been a great ride and I have met some wonderful people and some not so wonderful people, but that is what life is smiles, laughs and tears thank you to everyone for this experience!!

The Weather!! What more can we say the weather has certainly proven to be a challenge this season. The League is doing what it can from an organizational aspect to get the games played that are required to name League Champions. Should you have any questions please contact your coach and have the coach contact their District Representative for any updates. There will be League Champions and the seeding will happen and the BC Soccer A Cup draw will be posted as soon as possible.
Spring Break is also now upon us and as this interferes with three weeks March 5 forward this addes to the difficulty to schedule games.
There is really nothing that can be said for the weather this season other than what the hell! Teams must remember that all games scheduled after January 3, 2017 will need to be played and that means teams will have to play two games a weekend whenever possible. Everyone work together and lets get the games played...we hope!!
The Metro Select League announces that the U13 Boys and U14 Boys schedule for the second half of the season following the realignment will be posted very soon. The MSL passed a motion at their January 2017 meeting to accept the standings as of the Dec 3/4 weekend to realigned the teams moving forward for the second half of the season.
Well, Mother Nature is doing her best to disrupt the League start up after the winter break. It would appear there will be no games played this weekend. Coaches' please be sure and communicate with each other to be certain that your opponent knows your fields are closed and your game has been postponed.
Good Luck to All Teams as you kick off your 2016-17 Season this weekend!
