We are a student-led & semi-competitive dragon boat team representing Simon Fraser University
⚡️🌊 🐲

Based in Vancouver, BC, Canada SFU Shockwave is a Simon Fraser University Student Society club. We aim to promote the sport of dragon boat paddling in a fun and inclusive environment where everyone is able to learn and develop new and existing skills. We welcome novice paddlers and experienced paddlers alike to join any of our teams. Our goal is to train and prepare paddlers to eventually compete at the highest levels of dragon boat while at the same time offer programs to introduce this fast growing sport to beginners and those that wish to paddle recreationally. We are a fun-loving and welcoming bunch, paddling with us is the ultimate way to experience this amazing sport and to meet new friends.

Shockwave is BACK at the Harrison Dragon Boat Festival!

Despite the rainy weather, Shockwave had a weekend full of sunshine, silly chaos, and lots of sand... in our shoes ☀🏖

We are so proud to share that we placed second 🥈 in Mixed B Division with a time of 2:13.38 ‼️
Congratulations to Firetruck Dragon Boat 🚒 AnthoErekLeenius Rex 🥇, Dragon Hearts Breaker 🥉, ODBRC Paddleholics, CROSSNA, and Stantec Splash for a well-fought race 💪

SFU Shockwave is back at the 500 Championship 🌊✨

We are so excited to have placed 1st in E Division with a time of 2:07.795 ‼️ Congratulations to Twist’n Trout 🥈 and 🥉 on placing 2nd and 3rd respectively! What an amazing final race 🔥

Huge shoutout to our coaches, captains, and the team for keeping the energy up and thank you to everyone who cheered us on and kept us hyped (especially those who brought snacks 😋)

Last weekend was our first festival of the season!! It was a lot of our paddlers first time participating in these awesome vibes with the Dragonboat community 💖💖

Everyone had a lot of fun and no one got injured 😌🙏 I love this team. 🥰🥰🥰 Shoutout to our awesome mentors 😎 👏

I'm so happy that we had beautiful weather and calm conditions on the water. 🌊🛶

Can't wait for the rest of the season!!😈😈😈😈😈😈💨💨💨💨💨💨💨

Last Sunday, SFU Shockwave walked with Dragon Boat BC at the annual Chinatown Spring Festival Parade to celebrate the Lunar New Year! 🏮

Our paddlers were proud flag bearers and handed out red envelopes to parade bystanders! Thank you for inviting us 🫶

Despite the weather threatening to rain on our parade, we ended the season with a bang 💥 at the Fall Classic 🔥🔥
Shockwave placed 🥈 in Mixed C Division with a time of 00:54.34 and pushed beyond our limits in the Guts and Glory with a time of 12:57:97‼️🤩

Congratulations to 🥇Max Storm, 🥉, , DH Motley Crew, Creakside Dragons, , and Fire Dragons for a well-fought for final race 💪

Although the season is officially over, we’re not done yet! Keep a look out for any upcoming posts 🫡
