When my wife and myself went to Hong Kong in December of 2024 to visit our daughter and son-in-law, I had the opportunity to go to the Kwun Tong Push Hands which happens every Thursday morning. I am looking forward to go do more Push Hands this December! Below are some photos of when I was there during our last visit in 2024. From the group photo, I probably pushed hands with at least half or more of the people there.

I just wanted to thank everyone who came out and attended the workshop yesterday. It was a great turnout with 20 participants attending. Everyone worked hard with all the push hands exercises we did. There is a vast amount of work with the push hands curriculum, which builds upon what we have been training with the Yang long form in classes. We started the workshop with doing half of the Yang style long form to warm up.

Because there is so much to learn, it takes time, and dedication to learn and train the method. In today’s Push Hands Workshop, we introduced and worked on the basic concepts and training methods for the single and double hand fixed step push hands. At the end of the class I demonstrated 3-step push hands with Michel. I talked about how the basic elements of the single hand training are requirements for the double hand and the 3-step push hands, and how they all come back to the same way we move the body when doing the long form. This training is essential before moving on to free style push hands with a partner.

After the workshop, there were 9 of us that went out for a wonderful meal at a local Chinese restaurant. Again, thank you to all the participants who came out and made it a great workshop!

A nice demonstration of Tai Chi push hands. No trying to force each other. Sticking, following, leading, and waiting for for the opportunity to appear to take advantage of.
