Redemption feels good...
Sarah () & I were determined for a redemption trip at Bedwell & Cream lake, after getting rained and fogged out last September's trip 😅. Last time we didn't even go all the way to Cream Lake.
The trip started out with a crazy rain & thunderstorm that had us opting for a hotel and delaying the adventure til the next morning... good start right 😅😅
So we set out Saturday morning. Set up camp and were once again stuck in fog...
We decided to hike up to Cream lake regardless after we set up camp because the weather forecast still seemed promising.
Well, we couldn't have timed Saturday out better because it literally cleared up around 4pm up there that day 😅 HALLELUJAH!
It was even more stunning up there than I realized as I didn't know just how many mountains surround you up there. Plus Cream lake is your classic bright blue alpine lake!
On this trail you can camp at Baby Bedwell lake, Bedwell Lake & Cream lake. Cream lake looked more enjoyable and spacious to camp at as the other 2 were absolutely packed 😆... but of course that means you have to be up for carrying your pack in 12km & over 1000m elevation gain to Cream Lake (which less people are clearly!)
You can also just do an ambitious day hike 24km return with 1200m elevation gain which is also doable but I always love camping. Its too bad we didn't get our 2 nights there but it worked out how it was supposed to... and can't complain about a hotel night added in with a pool & hot tub!
Note: you need to purchase a backcountry permit to camp at any of the campgrounds and its all first come first serve for tent pads (or whatever flattish spot you find otherwise 😅)

North Shore sunsets are something else 😍
Last weekend my friend .cruzelle.adventures went for a stunning sunset hike up on Cypress Mountain to Eagle Bluffs.
A lot of people head up to St. Marks for sunsets but Eagle Bluffs is just as nice.
The hike is around 11km with over 500m elevation gain. Don't forget a head lamp as you'll definitely be hiking out in the dark. I also recommend downloading an map as even when its well marked it's still easy to take a wrong turn in the dark like we did LOL.

A beautiful lake with beautiful peeps ❤️
I'd only ever been above Garibaldi lake at Panorama Ridge a few years ago (took Helm creek route there), so it was nice to finally hike to the actual lake.
Such a beautiful place, it makes sense why it's gotten so popular.
Note: you need to get a day pass permit to hike here in the summer or backcountry camping permit on BC Parks website.
20km return hike with 1000m elevation gain.
Highly recommend camping at either Taylor Meadows, Garibaldi Lake or Helm Creek and then hiking up to Panorama Ridge (especially for sunset).

Canada is so diverse. I feel grateful I've gotten to explore 11/13 provinces/territories and that I'm from beautiful British Columbia.
I still feel like I've barely scratched the surface!
No country is perfect, but to me Canada is the most beautiful place and we have it all nature wise!

Campbell River on Vancouver Island is a great base for adventures. It's very close to Strathcona Provincial Park (my personal favorite area to hike & camp) but it also has some pretty cool trails as well!
*Ripple Rock trail: a moderate hike thats 9km return with ~300m elevation gain
*Elk Falls: is a quick 2km hike with 100m elevation gain. It has a cool suspension bridge and a couple viewing points to see the falls. Make it a longer hike by connecting with the Canyon View Trail
*Campbell River Lookout trail: this is a harder hike thats around 7km return with ~600m elevation gain.
*Canyon View Trail: a beautiful loop trail around the river, mostly an easy hike but there are stairs at the one end of the loop. 7km return with 100m elevation gain.
*Bonus Adventure: Including this fun day trip hike over to Quadra island because its only a 10 minute ferry ride over from Campbell River. The Chinese Mountain loop & Beechs Mountain trail is my favorite out of all of these. The views really surprised me on this one! To do both its just under 7km return with 460m elevation gain.
