The rich heritage of canoe culture traces back to ancient times, immemorial and timeless. Historical records reveal that canoe races date as far back as the 1880s, illustrating the enduring legacy of this tradition. Legend has it that our revered ancestors, during the Great Flood, skillfully secured their canoes atop Nch’kay’ (Mount Garibaldi), the towering peak within our ancestral territory, showcasing their remarkable prowess and connection to the natural world.
🛶 Each session is up to 120 minutes long and is led by an Indigenous guide/Skipper. Plan for a 3 hour visit to make sure you get the most enjoyment from the experience.

Recently there have been a couple coyote sightings at the park. While coyotes in Vancouver are not new, it is good to keep in mind that coyotes are currently in their breeding season so they might be more active and assertive during this time, especially near their dens. See the attached photos and resource links below for more information on coyote behaviour and coexisting with them peacefully.
Please report all sightings of coyotes at Concord Community Park by directly messaging this page or emailing [email protected]
If a coyote approaches you with aggressive behaviour, or is injured or you witness feeding of a coyote
Please Phone the Provincial Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP) line on 1-877-952-7277
