Due to the BMO Marathon this Sunday, May 5th, plan to leave a bit earlier than normal to get to class!
How to get to the studio due to road closures:
1) Use Main Street (north or south bound) and use West 2nd Ave going west towards Cambie.
2) Head west under Cambie Street bridge until Heather Street.
3) Go southbound on Heather Street to West 10th and head East to Ash Street.
4) Go southbound on Ash street to parkade entrance just before West 12th.

A study published in the journal “Psychosomatic Medicine” (Craft and Perna, 2004) found that regular physical activity like Hot Pilates, can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety by increasing the availability of neurotransmitters like serotonin and norepinephrine, which help regulate mood. Additionally, exercise has been shown to stimulate the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that supports the growth and maintenance of neurons. Higher BDNF levels are associated with improved cognitive function and a lower risk of depression.
When we engage in physical activity, our bodies release neurochemicals that positively affect our mood and cognitive function. Often referred to as the magic DOSE chemicals – Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins – one of the key players in elevating our mood and reducing stress is dopamine, the “feel-good” neurotransmitter.
The research found that individuals who exercised in a group setting reported higher levels of enjoyment and lower levels of stress compared to those who exercised alone. This underscores the role of exercise not only as a physical activity but also as a means of building social connections and support networks.
