I'm back! Invading your screen on behalf of False Creek BCP to shout out a huge thank you for all your support! Many of you likely know our results at the Club Crew World Championship in Taiwan, some of you have asked your favourite paddlers how we did....and the rest are perhaps cursing me under your breath for taking so long to share the news.

It's been a couple of weeks now since the False Creek BCP team was melting in the heat of Hualien, Taiwan...and the humidity, oh my gawd! Taiwan is wonderful! The people, the food, Google translate so we didn't starve. We hiked, visited temples and markets, explored on public transit, did laundry, ate noodles and shaved ice cream...not together...and hung out in a local shopping mall at least once a day for the air conditioning.

Bottom line, we 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝! Our BCP team was in the dragon boat for 7 races, with the distances divided between 3 days. Our first race day, 3 x 500m. Next race day, 3 x 200m. Final race day 1 x 2000m. (might have felt a bit like 5000m 🙄 ...but only because of the humidity 😏). 𝑺𝒆𝒆 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐 1.

Our boat of 20 paddlers raced hard and with determination, resulting in 7 wins earning us 3 Gold medals. BCP is in its own division, but we had the fun of racing against the mixed teams of the All Cancer Paddlers. To say it was satisfying to not only win, but to win against teams that are a mix of men and women, is an understatement. It felt spectacular. 𝑺𝒆𝒆 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐 2.

The thing is, it was so much more than the results. Every paddler on our team has faced their own battle in order to compete on a Breast Cancer team. I think I can speak for all of us that we would not wish it on anyone. But the feeling at the end of the races, after the medal ceremonies, when all was said and done...it was special.

Being with teammates who have grown together, not just as a team, but as friends. Thinking of our teammates watching from home, you can hear them every step of the way. Celebrating with our Coaches, we have the best. The shared experience with the rest of the False Creek Club racing in Taiwan. On a world stage representing False Creek Racing Canoe Club. Representing Vancouver. Representing Canada.

I can go on and on 🎶🎶🎶but that is the music reminding me to stop talking and get off the stage 🎶🎶🎶 𝑺𝒆𝒆 𝒑𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐 3.

It’s hard to believe 2 weeks ago we were competing in Taiwan at the 2026 World Club Crew Championships! Jet lag is a real thing so relieved to be getting this in just under the wire.

In just 3 short years, 2 CCWC’s (1 small boat; 1 standard) and 1 Canadian Nationals, we have worked hard under their guidance to be able to compete at the National and International levels.

And just like that…we are done! Our final race was the 2K on Sunday and our finish helped with the Club’s medal count placing FCRCC 11th out of 25 clubs world wide!! Canada finished number 1 of the 15 nations attending.

Our 200M races were fast and furious! It started to rain just as we finished our last race with a torrential downpour while we waited for our bus pickup. Last day of racing today with the 2K!

Day 1 of racing…COMPLETE! A quick turnaround between our three 500M races. 🥇 Raced against 2 all-cancer mixed teams. Rained off and on which helped keep the humidity/temp feel not quite so bad. 200M races on Friday.

It was an eleventh hour call for the Parade and Opening Ceremonies but the rain let up just in time. 😮‍💨. Quite the spectacle. Fire, dancers, music and a fabulous fireworks display to finish off the celebrations.

Another hot one for our second practice session yesterday. It started to rain after we got off the water. Made us feel right at home only it was very warm. Opening ceremonies in the evening and our racing starts on Wednesday.
