Hualien — What Visitors Should Know

Hualien is Taiwan’s largest county by area, located on the island’s stunning east coast between the Pacific Ocean and the Central Mountain Range. It’s known for dramatic scenery, indigenous culture and some of the most iconic natural landmarks in Taiwan.

Another great day of racing at the Harrison Dragon Boat Festival last Saturday. We had a whole mix of weather which made for some challenging times on the water. Lucky for us, we had Coach Susan at the stern to keep us on a straight line and Coach Jenn drumming to keep us focused.

30 Women's teams. We made it into the Grand Final and placed 4th. Congratulations to our club mates FCRCC SrC Women who earned the Gold Medal and the FCRCC Premier Mixed who earned the Bronze Medal, both in the Grand Finals!

Hualien is shaping up to be an unforgettable championship, and we encourage all club crews to review Bulletin 3 and stay on track with upcoming deadlines.

Day 2: The clouds parted and the sun shone for most of the day. Three 500m races; 16 Women's teams. We made it into the Women's Grand Final and paddled hard to a Silver Medal!! It was a great weekend away for some team bonding! Thanks to our coaches (Susan and Jenn) for having our backs and supporting us all weekend! Kudos to VI Paddling for such a successful regatta at Westwood Lake!!

Day 1: 4 - 200m races. Finished 4th overall in the Women’s division (24 teams) and 2nd in the BC Challenge race. Great Venue made for a good day of racing. 500m races coming up.

Would you look at that sunrise!! Yup...we were there for it. 🥱 Our final 2K team time trial this morning and what a beautiful day for it! The NEW Draco fleet produced many PB's!!! The Easter Bunny 🐰 even had treats waiting at the finish line. 🔥🎱😉
