Once in awhile, we like to challenge ourselves and our athletes with unconventional movements to push our minds and our bodies outside the comfort zone.
This past weekend at the Raincity Classic, some of us played it cool holding a wall sit while our partners did a sit up to wall ball overhead. Some of us did not.

It’s been a vibrant weekend here in Vancouver between a blast of summer heat, the kick off of the World Cup in our city and of course, the Raincity Classic. There’s been no shortage of things to do or places to be. Life gets busy and it’s easy to fall off training routines as plans pop up.
Mondays are a chance to set yourself up for a new week. Our coaches have programming laid out in 4-8 week training blocks so you don’t have to think about what to do day to day. All you have to do is show up & get it done 👊🏻

How far back do you go in Raincity history?
Blast from the past! Throwing a couple old ones up from the 2018 Raincity Classic in honour of this weekend’s Raincity Classic (in house throw down).
We’ve got a day of fitness and fun lined up this Saturday, June 13th. Our athletes will compete in pairs and complete 5 events throughout the day - 3 workout events and 2 “fun” events to keep things light and test their teamwork. We’re bringing back the classic logo on custom tees, have prizes for top performers and a spirit award for the best dressed team💥

No Sunday scaries this training block. Unless you’re bad at barbell and bumper plate math. On Mondays we’re hitting tempo squats and working on the eccentric, pause at the bottom and explosiveness back up.
We slow it down, focus on our movement mechanics, increase time under tension, and rely less on momentum and more on our muscles to produce force. Once we remove the tempo, the goal is that we have better awareness and corrected our form through each squat position.

What’s different about our HYROX classes this training block? We’ve formatted specific days to focus on each component of the race so when our athletes hit the floor in Vancouver this December, they’ve mastered the movements at each station and have their running endurance locked in.
What does that look like? On Mondays and Thursdays, we rotate between
▫️HYHEAVY: heavy versions of hyrox movements to make them feel lighter on race day
▫️HYSLEDS: Sleds on sleds on sleds
▫️HYRUNS: Running heavy days
Come join in on the fun Mondays at 6PM or Thursdays at 7PM.
