It was a fantastic event with an engaged audience and a great opportunity to support job seekers in building confidence for their interviews.

With tariffs and economic uncertainty making headlines, it’s easy to think, “Maybe I should just wait until the market improves.” 😬

But here’s the truth: Pausing your job search can actually hurt your momentum.

Why You Should Keep Job Hunting:
✔️ Hiring slows, but it doesn’t stop. Companies still need to fill roles - but they may move more slowly.
✔️ Connections made today can equal opportunities tomorrow. Networking during slow periods gives you a head start when hiring picks back up.
✔️ Staying active keeps you on employers' radar. Those who continue engaging with opportunities are more likely to be noticed

Even with all of the craziness in the world right now, opportunities are still out there. The key is to stay visible, keep applying, and build relationships that will open doors, whether now or in the near future.

Ever applied to a job and wondered if it was ever actually filled? 😤

You might’ve stumbled across a “ghost job”—a listing that was never truly open or was filled before you applied. It’s beyond frustrating for job seekers, and unfortunately, it happens more often than you’d think. It makes you wonder why companies would waste your time—and theirs—by keeping these postings live.

Here’s why:
1️⃣ Compliance Rules: Some companies are required to post jobs publicly, even if they already have a candidate lined up.
2️⃣ Talent Pooling: Employers sometimes post roles just to build a bank of résumés for future openings.
3️⃣ “Just in Case” Listings: Offers fall through or priorities shift, so companies keep postings live as a backup plan.

My Take:
Online applications are still important—but pairing them with strategic networking can help you avoid ghost jobs and get closer to real opportunities.

Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, but it's also possible to get completely sidetracked on your career goals at the same time. Here are some tips to help you find the right balance between work and play this summer. ☀️

Setting boundaries and a little bit of planning can make all the difference.

When you're not on vacation, maintain a regular work schedule (yes, even during the summer) to stay on track. Start and end work at the same times each day, and establish a pre-work and post-work routine to signal the beginning and end of your workday. 😎

Try using time blocking to define your leisure time (as well as work time) and stick to it! Use a calendar or planning tool to schedule in your summer fun activities to make sure you enjoy them guilt-free. Google Calendar is great for this and it's free! 📆

Minimize distractions during work hours to boost productivity. Turn off those social media notifications and create a workspace that's conducive to getting things done. Your future self will thank you and you'll be able to actually enjoy your time off! 🚀
