We spent the day with Mark Dowdle in Minnesota as he prepared to represent Team USA at Big’s Backyard Ultra. We got some miles in and talked about backyard racing, his race-day setup, and what “Not Done Yet” means to him.

Tomorrow, October 17, Mark lines up in Bell Buckle, Tennessee. The challenge is 4.167 miles at the start of every hour, through the day and night. Every completed loop adds to Team USA’s score in the world team championship.

The Endorphin Belt Origin Story.

Andy and Hunter met while serving in the 75th Ranger Regiment. On the 10-mile loop around Bagram Airfield, we talked about races, life, and what we wanted to do next.

We kept training together after the military. That friendship and shared love of running led to Endorphin Belt.

Here's how it started.

What an incredible weekend at the Army 10-Miler Expo! 🇺🇸

We met so many soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen preparing for the race, along with the friends and families cheering them on. Getting to share the Endorphin Belt with this community meant so much to us.

The military is where we met and took up a shared passion for running, where we learned so much about leadership and life, and where the friendship that eventually became this business began. Coming back together with that community as founders was something special.

One of the best parts was hearing from runners already using the belt: stories about their training, the miles they’ve put in, and how something we created has made their runs better. Those conversations are why we love doing this.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a story, or picked up a belt. We’re grateful for your support and excited to stay connected, keep building, and see you at future events.

First look at our day spent with Mark Dowdle as he prepares for Big's Backyard and considers gear choices.

One lesson in keeping things simple.

During the BPN G1M Ultra, Mark Dowdle realized he was carrying more than he needed. His decision: trade the bulky vest for the Endorphin Belt and take only the essentials for each loop.

Yesterday, we spent the day with Mark Dowdle as he prepares for Big’s Backyard Ultra. We joined him for a short run at one of his favorite spots, visited his alma mater, and grabbed some food while talking training, mindset, gear, faith, and family.

We’re grateful for the chance to get to know Mark better and proud to keep supporting him along the way. Thanks for sharing your day with us, Mark. We’ll be cheering you on at Big’s!
