If your shoulder routine hasn’t progressed past leaning into a doorway, this is for you.

To be clear, the doorway stretch isn’t the villain. The problem is when it’s the whole plan. For years.
Your shoulder does a lot more than tolerate a stretch. Reaching overhead, lifting something awkward, pressing, pulling, carrying. It needs to produce force, control your arm in different positions, and actually move on its own.

So here are three ways to train that:
1️⃣ Face-down external rotation work
Practise producing force near the edge of your range, then lifting your hand away with nothing helping. The “can I actually own this position?” test.

2️⃣ Eccentric external rotations on your back
Slow, controlled lowering, with your arm in different positions, from close to your side to further out. Strength and control in more than one spot.

3️⃣ Prone shoulder (CARs)
A slow, controlled circle that looks a bit like a one-arm swimmer. Move as much range as you can with control, without your whole body jumping in to help.
These aren’t a prescription and they won’t fix everything on their own. They’re examples of what a shoulder routine can include once it moves past stretching.

The real difference isn’t any one exercise. It’s having direction. Knowing where you’re starting, what to work on, and how to progress it, instead of collecting random shoulder drills from the internet.

That’s what we’ve built inside the community:
→ A structured 32-week shoulder program
→ A self-assessment so you know your starting point and what to focus on
→ Twice-weekly live calls to ask questions

your body gets good at what you give it. Give it nothing, it gets weaker. Avoid a position long enough and your brain starts treating it like danger. Your body isn’t made of glass. Stop treating it like it is.

Quick question: why do some people at 50 feel stiff, fragile, and “too old for that”... while some 90-year-olds in a nursing home got stronger in 8 weeks?

That second part is real. In 1990, researchers took ten frail nursing home
residents, average age 90, and had them lift heavy (working up to 80% of their max). Eight weeks later they were on average about 174% stronger, with bigger thigh muscles and noticeably better walking.
Ninety years old.

I’ve coached for 15+ years, the last 10 online, and my team and I have helped 500+ people out of chronic pain. And the biggest thing holding most of them back wasn’t their age. It was the story.
“My back’s bad.” “My knees are shot.” “I’m too old for that.”

Say it enough and it becomes who you are. Then you move like a fragile person, avoid things like a fragile person, get weaker... and the story proves itself. (I’ve had my own version of this. “Let me think about it” was my favourite line for years.)

What breaks the loop:
🧠 Catch the story. Notice when you say “I’m too old”
🏋️ Start with something simple and a little heavy
📈 Go a little heavier over time
🔁 Give it longer than a few weeks

No, you can’t think your way out of an injury. Your body is real. But the story decides whether you ever give your body the chance to change.
You’re not fragile. You’re untrained.

Comment “GLUTES” and I’ll send you my full 25-minute glute class. Free. 🍑👇

Quick question: why do some people do glute exercises for years and still have cranky knees and a grumpy back... while others build a strong, juicy ass that actually helps them move better?

Because the biggest single muscle in your body isn’t your bicep. It’s your ass. And a stronger one can take load off your knees, back you up on stairs and hills, and help your back feel a lot less fragile.
Also, it’s better for your marriage.

(That last part is not peer reviewed. It’s a joke. But I know how some of you are, so I’m writing it down. 😂)

I’ve coached for 15+ years, the last 10 online, and my team and I have helped 500+ people out of chronic pain. And the glute mistake I see the most? Endless band walks and clamshells. Lots of burning. Not much building. I did it too, early on.

What actually builds them:
🦵 Learn the hinge, so your hips do the work
🎯 Find positions where you actually feel them working
🏋️ Load them, and keep adding a little over time
🔁 Train them in different ranges, not just one
That’s exactly what the free class walks you through, step by step, 25 minutes.
