Everything You've Been Told About Building Muscle Is Wrong - No Filter Q&A - Episode #263
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=j6cSMdYr5Uk
Most people assume they're doing everything right.
They're training hard, eating plenty of food, taking supplements, and showing up consistently—yet their physique refuses to change.
In this week's No Filter Q&A, I answer some of the most common questions I hear from lifters who feel stuck when it comes to building muscle, gaining size, and improving their physique.
I cover:
✅ Why your body weight may not be increasing despite eating more
✅ Why your arms are getting stronger but not bigger
✅ The truth about post-workout nutrition
✅ How much cardio is too much during a growth phase
✅ Why some people stay lean year-round while others gain body fat easily
✅ When joint pain is a warning sign—not a badge of honor
✅ Whether cheat meals actually help fat loss
✅ If training to failure on every set is necessary for muscle growth
✅ How much meal timing really matters for recovery and performance
If you've been training hard but aren't seeing the results you expect, this episode will help you identify what's actually holding you back and what to do about it.
As always, no fluff, no gimmicks, and no influencer nonsense—just real-world coaching advice from over 25 years of experience helping clients build stronger, leaner, and more muscular physiques.

Most people are obsessed with calories.
I’m obsessed with nutrients.
Yes, calories matter.
But if your goal is to build muscle, lose body fat, improve your performance, and become healthier, calories only tell part of the story.
Your body doesn’t build muscle from calories.
It builds muscle from protein.
It doesn’t support hormone production with calories.
It does that with healthy fats.
It doesn’t optimize recovery, energy levels, immune function, and overall health with calories alone.
It needs vitamins, minerals, fiber, and quality food sources.
That’s why I don’t build nutrition plans around a random calorie target.
I build them around the macronutrients and micronutrients your body actually needs to perform, recover, and change.
Two people can eat the exact same number of calories and end up with completely different physiques.
Why?
Because nutrient quality matters.
Protein matters.
Carbohydrates matter.
Healthy fats matter.
Micronutrients matter.
Calories are simply a number.
Nutrients are what determine the quality of the results.
If you’re tired of chasing calories and still not seeing the physique you want, my latest blog explains exactly why I focus on macros and micros instead.

One of the most common questions I get from clients is: "How many calories should I be eating?" It's a fair question. After all, calories matter. If you're consuming more calories than you burn, you'll gain weight. If you're consuming fewer calories than you burn, you'll lose weight. But here's…

I always tell my clients that the physique isn’t the achievement.
The achievement is becoming the type of person who shows up when they don’t feel like it.
The early mornings. The missed excuses. The meals nobody sees. The workouts nobody applauds. The years of doing the basics over and over again.
Most people want the result.
Very few people are willing to fall in love with the process required to earn it.
The reality is that muscle, strength, conditioning, confidence, and health are all byproducts of something much bigger:
Consistency.
Not motivation.Not genetics.Not luck.
Just showing up and doing the work long after the excitement wears off. That’s what changes physiques.
And more importantly...
That’s what changes people.

Life moves fast.
Between work, responsibilities, goals, deadlines, and everything else competing for our attention, it’s easy to forget to slow down and enjoy the moments right in front of us.
Today was one of those days.
Good weather.
Good company.
No agenda.
No rush.
Just taking a moment to appreciate where we are, what we have, and the people we get to share it with.
Sometimes that’s enough.
