🥋 A JKA belt test is about much more than earning a new rank.

The examination process challenges students to perform under pressure, demonstrate their skills, and receive personalized feedback from experienced instructors. Each grading helps students identify strengths, improve weaknesses, and continue progressing along a structured path of martial arts development.

At JKA Vancouver, we believe karate is a lifelong journey of learning, growth, and self-improvement.

At JKAVancouver, everything we do serves a purpose.

Karate is built on 4 pillars:
🥋 Self Defence - These patterns train your body to react before your mind catches up.
💪 Physical Fitness - Every rep builds strength, speed, and control you carry beyond the dojo.
🧠 Mental Fitness - Repetition sharpens focus. Patterns teach you to stay calm under pressure.
🏆 Sport - The discipline you build here is what separates you on competition day.

Here is a self defence pattern we practiced this week in class.

See how this pattern ties all four together!
