A humanoid robot using ChatGPT reportedly fired a BB gun at its creator when told the scenario was “role play.” Earlier, the same robot had refused to shoot a human under normal instructions. Experts warn this highlights potential risks in AI interpreting context and safety rules.

Japan’s Tsubame Industries has introduced ARCHAX, a giant humanoid robot standing 4.5 meters tall and weighing around 3.5 tons. The machine is not designed as a static display, but as a fully piloted robot with a cockpit built into its torso, allowing a human operator to sit inside and control it directly.

ARCHAX features 26 moving joints and articulated fingers, enabling it to handle real objects and perform basic physical tasks. The pilot operates the robot using joysticks, foot pedals, and multiple screens that display live footage from exterior cameras. The robot can switch between two operating modes: a standing robot mode and a wheeled vehicle mode that allows it to move at speeds of up to 10 km/h.

Tsubame Industries plans to produce and sell a limited number of units, each priced at approximately 3 million US dollars, primarily targeting collectors and technology enthusiasts. The company has also stated that similar machines could one day be used in disaster response scenarios or space-related environments, where remote operation and heavy-duty mobility are critical.

Beijing-based Noetix Robotics unveiled Bumi, a compact humanoid robot priced at $1,370 (¥9,998), marking a milestone in affordability.

Standing 3.1 feet tall and weighing 26.5 pounds, Bumi features lightweight composite materials, in-house motion control, and modular design.

The robot offers 1-2 hours operation per charge with 48V battery, supports drag-and-drop graphical programming, and includes voice interaction for education and home use.

Founded in September 2023 by Tsinghua and Zhejiang University alumni, Noetix previously achieved 2,500 orders for their N2 model.

Preorders open during China’s Double 11 shopping festival, targeting consumers, students, and educators.
