The sound of Stomach Massage sounds like…
I love music! My inclination is to add sound to this post, blast you with my chosen “mood” 😜. But sometimes the sound of nature while I move is music to my ears …
When you exercise, what do you listen to? Is it loud? Does it drown out your thoughts? If so consider this:
1. If the music you’re listening to is loud and you can’t hear yourself think or you’re drowning out your thoughts, your awareness drops.
2. You can’t hear the sound of your movement. As in, you can’t hear your body executing good movement. What do you sound like on the reformer/treadmill/pavement? How is your control?
3. What are the environmental cues? If you’re alone, what is your internal dialogue? What are you “witnessing”? And,if you are with a teacher or in a class, what is being said? Does it resonate? Is it relevant to you or the movement you are doing?
4. What is your breathing like and can you regulate it?
5. Can you hear the birds? What does that do to your nervous system?
What is your internal experience when you move? Are you drowning out the noise in your head? If you’re a teacher, do you feel like you have to keep talking? Where does that feeling come from? What would happen if you said less? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

If you’re looking to improve your Teaser, look no further than the body itself to tell you where to go.🤩
Teaser is not about where the feet should “land” relative to your head or eyes, it’s not about replicating a shape you’ve seen, it’s especially not about “feeling your abs” although you will feel your abdominals contract as you work. 🔥
Teaser is about finding a balance point on the flattest part of your sacrum. And yes, that will vary from person to person. That won’t change depending on which apparatus you use and it *should not* change under load in the case of spring tension. Since your arms and legs don’t change the balance, it’s about learning where that balance point is, be able to assimilate it into your your nervous system so that you can continue to challenge and build capacity with arm movement, leg movement and load.

Happy New Year 🥳 !
Do any of these tips resonate? What are your top 3 qualities you look for or which 3 qualities would you embody?
The arc barrel is one of my ✨favourite✨ apparatus to help spice up my Matwork practice. It hits a little different compared to the spine corrector and especially useful for those of us under six feet tall😝!
When you want to feel those deeper connections or to shift out of a stuck thoracic spine or tight hips, these arcs really shine! 😲🙌🏼
A few of my favourite supine go-to-exercises on the arc barrel:
1. Frogs
2. Lower and Lift
3. Circles
4. Scissors
5. Bicycle
6. Shoulder Bridge
7. Roll Over
8. Hip Opener
9. Breathing
