I’d like to take a moment to recognize and thank Coach Cindy Bergeron, who coaches our skaters at the Verner Skating Club. Not only does Cindy coach our skaters, but she continues to skate herself as a club member! ⛸️

Cindy completed her coaching training last year and has continued to give so much of her time, energy, and passion to our skating community.

This year, she’s even challenging herself to work toward landing her double jumps! 🤩 What an incredible superstar and role model for our skaters!

Thank you, Cindy, for leading by example and showing our skaters that you can always keep learning, growing, and challenging yourself. We are so lucky to have you! 💞

We are so lucky to have such an amazing coaching team guiding our skaters this season. 💙

We are so incredibly grateful to have Chloé Lalonde on the ice with our skaters. She is one of a kind!!
Here’s a chance to get to know her a little better.

✨ Fun fact: I’ve been skating since I was 3 years old — figure skating has shaped me into who I am today. It taught me everything from resilience to the thrill of finally nailing that one jump.
At just 13 and a half, I packed up my dreams and moved to Barrie to live with an amazing billet family so I could take my skating to the next level. I trained at the prestigious Mariposa School of Skating, where my “school” looked a little different than most teenagers’. Instead of hallways and lockers, I spent countless hours on the ice (and off-ice) surrounded by world-class coaches and dancers— including Olympians — who pushed me harder than I ever thought possible. Figure skating wasn’t just an activity; it was my entire world. The sacrifices were real, but the opportunity was priceless, and I’d choose that path all over again in a heartbeat.

✨ Fun fact: Jumps, jumps, and more jumps — flips and lutzs are my favorite jumps. For me- The faster, the better. Oh let’s not forget, the toe rabin death drop fly spin🤤 Basically, if it feels like flying, sign me up. Certified adrenaline j***y right here.

✨ Funniest oops➡️I once performed as a snake in an interpretive program 🐍. Mid-bracket turn, I wiped out… but instead of eating the ice, I improvised a worm/snake move and locked eyes with the judge like, “yeah, this is part of the act.” She bought it. 10/10 commitment.

✨ Fun fact: Always skate with no socks. It’s my way of feeling grounded… even if my boots (and feet) smell like a science experiment afterward. 😂

✨ Fun fact: I was in a Hallmark movie (Love on Ice) — you’ll see me on screen for a whopping 6 seconds after 16+ hours of skating the same scene. Totally worth it.

Thank you Chloe !!!We’re so grateful for your energy, experience, and dedication to our skaters!

Happy coache’s week to our club’s head coach
Cassie-Lee Tario

“I love the sport of figure skating because of the life lessons it teaches you. It teaches you to be independent, confident, and gives you the feeling of achievement. Skating isn’t just a sport it is a tool that can teach you about skills that can carry on throughout your life.
The part that makes me the most happiest about coming to the rink to coach is that look on a person’s face after they have achieved something they have been working for. That first “I did it” reaction is what keeps me coming back. “

🏅 WHY SKATING HELPS CHILDREN SUCCEED IN OTHER SPORTS 🏅

Did you know that skating is one of the best foundation sports for children?

The skills learned on the ice carry over into almost every other sport!

⛸️ Skating helps develop:
⭐ Balance and coordination
⭐ Agility and quick footwork
⭐ Core strength and stability
⭐ Speed and power
⭐ Body awareness
⭐ Confidence and perseverance

Whether your child plays hockey, ringette, soccer, baseball, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, dance, skiing, or simply loves being active, the athletic skills they build through skating help them perform better both on and off the ice.

At the Verner Skating Club, we’re not just teaching children how to skate—we’re helping them build confidence, athletic ability, and lifelong skills that will benefit them in every activity they choose.

💙 Strong skaters become strong athletes!
