Meet MARIAH: TFA’s newest coach addition. We are thrilled to bring her experience and expertise to our community.
Mariah has an impressive resume in the fitness world, from running in the NCAA for five years for Baylor University to being team captain for the NCAA All American cross country and track team.
She is also a Professional runner for New Balance, Canadian Bronze Medallist, and most recently was named as a 2021 Olympic Alternate for the 1500m event.
Mariah fell in love with TFA for its unreal community, atmosphere, energy, clients and other fellow coaches. In her words: “no doubt”.
A message from your coach Mariah:
“I want to help people go beyond where they think they can by sharing the tools and knowledge I have gained through my own experience chasing big dreams.”

PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD & why you should care 💭
Progressive overload is one of the key principles of strength training. It is essentially “doing a little more” than the last time, i.e. using a heavier weight or adding one more rep. By progressively overloading our current capability, we force the body to adapt and ultimately get stronger!
🔑 The key is to do so GRADUALLY to avoid injury, while not sacrificing your FORM, another key concept of any strength training program. If you cannot maintain your form with the chosen method of overload, then tailor it back. Remember, there is no rush.
METHODS:
• Increase weight
• Increase reps or sets
• Increase frequency of workouts
• Decrease tempo
• Decrease rest between sets
Remember to listen to and take care of your body - nutrition, hydration, sleep, and recovery all play a huge role in your performance and results.

—— since July 2021.
▪️What first drew you to TFA?
—— I was looking for a personal trainer and reached out to Dave! He encouraged me to try group classes!
▪️What has been your favourite part about working out at TFA? How has group training supported you in your goals?
—— My favourite part about TFA has been the community: great people always keeping me accountable and pushing me. Oh and I love TEAM FOR TIME.
