Tag someone who makes trail running their entire personality the second race season starts.

Suddenly every conversation is about vert, fueling, zone 2, race kits, recovery runs, β€œeasy days” that somehow turn into 4 hours in the forest, and checking the weather forecast for the trails five times a day.

Trail season on Vancouver Island just hits different. 🌲

Short course energy at Lake Cowichan 🌲⚑️

Fast legs, nervous smiles, deep breaths at the line, and that electric feeling right before the countdown starts.

There’s something special about watching the forest come alive as runners disappear into the trails together. Whether it’s your first trail race or your fiftieth, that start line feeling never really changes.

Lake Cowichan, you were a good one. 🏁

The trails don’t happen without the people behind them. 🀍🌲

From early morning course marking, to cheering at aid stations, to handing out finish line food after a long day on the trails, our volunteers are a huge part of what makes the Vancouver Island Trail Running Series feel like community.

Port Alberni is coming up on June 6th and we’re still looking for volunteers to help make race day happen.

If you’ve ever wanted to be part of the energy without running the course, this is your sign.

Volunteer roles include:
β†’ Aid stations
β†’ Course support
β†’ Finish line
β†’ Set up & take down
β†’ Course marshals

Come spend the day in the forest with us. Send us an email to [email protected] 🌿

Lake Cowichan weekend reminded us why we keep coming back to the trails. 🌲🏁

The early morning energy, muddy shoes at the finish line, quiet moments in the forest, and that feeling of pushing yourself alongside a community that understands why we do this in the first place.

From above, it’s easy to see how special these weekends really are.

A small start/finish line tucked into the trees bringing together hundreds of runners, volunteers, crews, and stories for one unforgettable day on Vancouver Island.
