Sea Ghost charters is no longer in service. I retired as of January 1, 2021. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me over 33 years of charter fishing. It was an incredible journey, but with Covid and all the restrictions resulting from it, it was time to hang it up. I also reached retirement age and coming back after a year and a half without chartering would be too much of a task.
I am missing it, but I’m still able to get out on the water to enjoy fishing.

A recent fishing trip with the Howell family. It was land the fish and get out-of-the way of a huge freighter that was bearing down on us. Once again gear from Gibbs Delta fishing tackle got it done. An 8 inch Oil slick curly tail with mackerel made it happen. Thanks to Rob Alcock and his team at Gibbs Delta tackle for the great gear and ongoing support.

Ladies day on the water with a couple of 113 cm halibut. Had a third halibut hook up but it got cut off on the initial run when it crossed over another line. All hook ups were on a Gibbs Delta tackle “oil slick” 8 inch curly tail with a number 14 circle hook. Thanks Gibbs Delta for your awesome gear, it is the best of the best.

Fishing at Church rock this morning with the Marsh family. This 18 pound chinook was taken on a skinny G Herring Aid/Nickel. With a monkey puke flasher. All gear provided by Gibbs delta tackle. Thanks again to Rob Alcock and his team at Gibbs Delta for producing the best fishing gear available. It was a busy morning on the water and a lot of fun was had by all.

Great morning fishing sockeye salmon with Susan and her family. This 18 pound chinook was hooked up on a green / red Chrome Gibbs delta tackle teaser head with a betsy flasher by Okie, which is also owned by Gibbs delta tackle.

Thirteen year old Taya with her first halibut, 42 pounds. Notice how she figured out how to push down on the scale and make a fish bigger. Thank you Gibbs Delta tackle for the excellent gear you provide me to catch these fish. The white 8 inch curly tail with mackerel on a number 14 circle hook provided today’s success.

Some great Halibut fishing memories for 2018. All of my fishing gear, which has I have use for a number of years with great success, is provided to me by Gibbs Delta tackle. When weather has been good, good tides have provided us with excellent halibut fishing. Bad weather has resulted in a number of fishing trip cancellations so far this year. Reduce size restriction for halibut has proved to be a real problem. As the season continues I anticipate more smaller fish being retained will result in more larger fish being caught and being released multiple times. I anticipate that the halibut catch ratio compared to last season will be down considerably this year given weather conditions etc. It would be prudent for DFO to step in and make and in season decision based on relevant information and increase the maximum size for retention. That would actually be managing the fishery, which is what they should be doing.
Salmon fishing has been decent. Although, with the size restrictions, area closures for killer whale food forging areas, and terrible weather for fishing, there has been little pressure on salmon. DFO has been very quiet about other forthcoming measures that will be taken to provide additional salmon for Southern resident killer whale food. But you can bet your bottom dollar, that it will definitely impact on our fishing area, Area 20 –5 and area 19 - 3. For some reason we have become they’re scratching post.

Nice catch just before April 01, when DFO turned Hali fishing into a 43 lb catch and release program.
