I started dancing at dansko when I was 3 years old and have fallen more and more in love with it every class I take. Dance has not only been a second family to me, but a place to express, inspire, learn, create and grow. I’d like to thank every single instructor, friend, and dance mom who helped me to become the person I am today. I’m so incredibly thankful to everyone at dansko and the relationships I’ve made here❤️

From then till now:

Over the last few years of uncertainty and often disappointment, dance has truly been the one thing I can rely on. I know as soon as I walk in Danskos front doors, my day can only improve. Dansko is truly my second home… well maybe my first home if I did the math. There is genuinely no place I rather be or people to spend my time with. I’ve made lifelong friends in the process, and have learned so much about myself. Finally seeing our teams hard work pay off this year makes me so proud, and only increases the passion I have for dance.

For me, dance has been (and always will be) an outlet for all my emotions. It empowers both my body and mind and without a doubt has shaped me into who I am. There is nothing better than the feeling of turning up the music and and letting the movement take over.

From the moment I stepped into my first dance class, I knew it was what I was meant to do. The connections I’ve made, the opportunities I’ve been given, and the support I have felt are all worth more than anything. My teachers, friends, and fellow studio members all demonstrate such incredible acts of kindness and respect. Dansko feels like home and anytime I walk into the studio, I feel a sense of belonging. Dance has helped shape me into the person I am today and Dansko will forever hold such a special place in my heart.

Over my 15 years of dance, I’ve learned the most from the times I felt discouraged. In those moments where I feel alone, I receive an outrageous amount of support from both my teachers and teammates. These moments also help me grow as a person and a dancer, as I become stronger. I’ve grown to know that these times also make all the amazing moments seem so much greater.

Congratulations to two wonderful dansko teachers. Carly and Madi graduated from Uvic’s Education Program. Ms. Heemskerk and Ms. Bains will be amazing at their jobs because they are already amazing teachers at dansko. We love you both.
