What is somatics? I get this alot so thought I would do a post...

Somatic practicing is a body-centered approach to healing and personal growth that focuses on reconnecting with physical sensations, emotions and stored trauma. It’s based on the understanding that trauma, stress and emotional patterns are held in the body, not just the mind.

Somatics changed my life when I went to India in 2013. I took part in a 28 day silent retreat where we got in touch with what was going on in our body on a moment to moment basis. Because it was in silence, we would often get triggered and were able to track those triggers into the body and notice how we were reacting. Then we learned how to process those triggers through mindfulness practices and somatic tools. I will never forget how awful it felt in the beginning but then as we processed them it got easier and I felt light and happy again. This is where I learned that feeling is healing!!
