Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and all those affected by the residential school system.

Reconciliation requires listening, learning, remembering, and taking meaningful action.

Today and every day, we are committed to learning and supporting a future grounded in safety, dignity, respect, and equality.

Today, the Chatham-Kent Police Service recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We honour Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and remember the children who never returned home. We acknowledge the lasting and intergenerational impacts of the residential school system on First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.

Today is an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on the history and experiences of Indigenous Peoples, and to recognize our shared responsibility in advancing reconciliation.

We encourage everyone in our community to take time today to learn, reflect and remember.

Every Child Matters. 🧡
