I am a firm believer in using descending devices in the summer time. These big fish are hanging out deep and it’s our job as anglers to treat them as good as possible when releasing them. 120ft deep is the equivalent of 67psi or 4.6 atmospheres of pressure. Barotrauma is reel even in fresh water. Not to mention the lack of oxygen in warmer water. 76°f surface temps hold approximately 27% less oxygen than 50° water. That’s a lot when it comes down to rainbows. Bottom line is get them back down to the depths you caught it at as soon as possible. I use a SeaQualizer 50-100-150 model and it never fails. Pick one up at your local tackle store or grab one off amazon. They work great!
