GRIND Fitness Whistler

Day 4/30
The idea of this 30 day run challenge, is to drop the macho performance bu****it and work through my current biggest issues. Being my lungs and my imbalances through the body.
The 30 days isn’t about running to a pace, trying to gain more mileage. It’s about showing up and putting in the ground work, creating a solid base to build from in the next few months. In this series you will see my weaknesses and how I’m only now going about fixing them. Hopefully you can learn a little with me along the way.
Today’s session involved breath work. Thought I’d give this a go since we are trying to build a stronger aerobic system. And although it sounded easy I swear I nearly suffocated several times for being far too stubborn. Anyway I checked my ego, run became a walk when it needed, and we got the job done.
My one big takeaway was that I had definitely been over breathing when running and never really trained in a CO2 tolerance. It’s never really been an issue or something I had noticed but from today’s session I can actually see real life applications and performance gains that can occur just for being more mindful about how we breath during exercise.

This is goodbye.
This might be one of the hardest things I’ve had to write, but I’ve made the decision to suspend operations for Grind Fitness.
This hasn’t been an easy decision I love teaching these classes, I love seeing your progress, and the community we’ve built together has meant more to me than I can put into words. It’s truly been a lifeline. However, this winter has been a challenging one, and my time in Whistler no longer aligns with my personal goals and ambitions. I need to take some time to focus on what’s next.
Grind Fitness has always been about you, creating the best experience possible with the tools I had. But now it’s time for me to show myself that same care and redirect my energy into what comes next.

I also encourage you to continue supporting local businesses, especially Alpha HIIT with Alex, Opus Athletics with Jordan & Bhavana Studio with Britt. These are great communities, and they’ll take good care of you.
My final class will be on May 4th at the Westin Hotel. I’d love to see as many of you as possible over the next month, let’s finish strong, bring the energy, and make these last sessions count.

We’ve added multiple Hatha sessions to the schedule to help you work through the aches and pains that come with mountain life. Snowboarding, biking, hiking, long shifts on your feet. It all takes a toll.
Our instructors live, work, and play in the mountains too. They understand what your body needs to recover properly and stay strong for the long run.
This isn’t just an add-on class. It’s part of the routine if you want to train hard, recover well, and keep doing what you love.
