Leidenius records top ten at Nationals; men's team finishes ninth

Final CCAA Golf Nationals Hurricanes recap.

-Daria Leidenius was impressive in her second CCAA National Championship, finishing T9 for her best career finish. This was the first top ten for a 'Canes women's player since 2013.

-The Hurricanes men struggled on Friday to drop from 8th to 10th in the tournament.

-The Hurricanes individuals finished as follows: Jason Poley (T26), Alex Taylor (T33), Jacob Ward (T41), Guillaume Cote-Genereux (T48) and Spencer Compton (T52).

Day 3 recap from Nationals.

-Daria Leidenius continues to move up the leaderboard after posting a 77 on Thursday, the third best score of the day from anyone in the field. She now sits in 9th, six shots out of fifth and 18 back of the lead.

-The 'Canes men moved up another spot today as they now sit in 8th position; they are six shots behind the seventh place Durham Lords.

-Jason Poley and Jake Ward were the Hurricanes top individuals today with Poley as the 'Canes top individual in the tournament at T15.

-The tournaments fourth and final round will begin on Friday at 8:30am EST.

The Canes men moved up to ninth yesterday and look to have another good day today while Daria Leidenius moved up to T13 individually with a solid day in round two.

The Hurricanes Round 2 Recap.

-Daria Leidenius started round two T17 but a strong day of golf moved her to T13 and just five shots out of ninth with two days remaining.

-The Hurricanes men began the day in tenth place but an improved team effort moved the 'Canes into ninth and just eleven shots out of sixth.

-Alex Taylor was the Hurricanes top individual today but Jason Poley leads the 'Canes in the individual leaderboard; he's currently T10, four strokes out of the top five and 11 behind the leader.

The Hurricanes continue the event on Thursday with round 3. Spencer Compton begins play at 8:30am EST followed by Guillaume Cote-Genereux (8:40am), Jacob Ward (8:50am), Alex Taylor (9:00am), Jason Poley (9:10am) and Daria Leidenius (9:20am).

-Extremely difficult scoring conditions and course setup at Royal Ashburn made for a challenging day in round 1 with the field scoring average being one of the highest ever.

-Jason Poley sits at T5 after round one and is just four strokes back of the lead.

-Daria Leidenius is just three strokes out of the top ten and eight out of the top five heading into tomorrow's second round.

-The 'Canes men's team sit in tenth but are just 11 strokes out of the top four entering Wednesday's second round.
