🥋 What a night. One I won't forget anytime soon.

Tonight’s class was absolutely special. There was just this energy in the air—you know, the kind where you can feel everyone pushing a little harder, digging a little deeper, and lifting each other up.

First and foremost, a MASSIVE congratulations to my teammate and friend Sam Steele on earning his brown belt. Sam, I’ve seen the early mornings, the late nights, the sweat, the frustration, and the breakthroughs. I’ve seen you show up when it would’ve been easier to stay home. That belt isn't just a piece of cloth—it represents every fall you got back up from, every lesson you refused to quit on. So proud of you, brother. 🙌

But tonight wasn’t just about Sam. So many others hit incredible milestones too—stripes, promotions, personal victories that maybe only they fully understand. Seeing everyone grind, support one another, and level up together? That’s the real heart of martial arts. No egos, no jealousy—just a room full of people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

I’ve trained in a few places over the years, but I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart: I am truly blessed to call Judokaa Martial Arts home. This isn't just a gym. It’s where I’ve found strength when I felt weak, laughter when I needed it most, and a family that shows up for each other on and off the mats.

Thank you to our sensei's, training partners, and every single person who makes Judokaa what it is. Nights like this remind me why I never want to train anywhere else.

We’re proud to announce that Judokaa Martial Arts has officially joined the Ontario Jiu-Jitsu Association (OJA) — and trust us, this is only the beginning! 🥋🇨🇦

But let's rewind for a second. Judokaa has always been built on a rock-solid Judo foundation. In fact, we’re already ranked in the top 10 in Ontario for Judo membership — a testament to the hard work, discipline, and world-class instruction our students receive every single day on the mats. 🥋💪

Back in June 2024, Sensei Kevin took a massive step forward in his martial arts journey, passing his Black Belt in Japanese Jiu-Jitsu with flying colours. That dedication, skill, and leadership — rooted in years of Judo excellence — are exactly what’s driving our dojo into this exciting new chapter.

But none of this would be possible without the incredible team behind him. A huge thank you to all the senseis, assistant instructors, and dedicated helpers at Judokaa who show up every day to mentor, motivate, and push our students to be their best.

Your passion, patience, and commitment are the heartbeat of this dojo. 🙏🥋

So what does joining the OJA mean for you, our students?

A Major Milestone for Judokaa Martial Arts & Local Judo ❤️

This weekend, we completed one of the most important upgrades in our club’s history since opening in 2012: a brand-new sub-floor. It reinforces the very foundation of everything we do.

We are incredibly grateful to Radu and Loredana, owners of NS Flooring, for making this project happen. In just two days, they brought everything needed to the site and completed the installation quickly and professionally. Their dedication and skill made all the difference. Judokaa can’t thank them enough—not only for the equipment and expertise, but for making a complex project feel simple and easy. Once started, it came together extremely fast. THANK YOU!

Thank you as well to Tyler and Ernest, two members who have consistently stood by Judokaa and had our backs throughout this process. Your support means more than you know.

We also want to recognize Peacock Lumber owner and operator Glen for providing all the materials required. Quality materials from a quality partner.

Thanks as well to black belts Steve and Kenny, plus the Saturday class, for getting all that lumber into the dojo so fast. What a way to finish Saturday class—lugging a tonne of plywood through that small opening. COOL!

This new floor is more than an upgrade—it’s a symbol of our commitment to excellence, stability, and the future of Judokaa Martial Arts.

Thank you to everyone who continues to build this club with us. Without our wonderful members, we wouldn’t be the club we are. With the recent explosion in our adult program, we knew our members had a gentler fall coming their way. LOL!
