Picked up a l'il saw and old torch over the weekend. Excited for a new kind of restoration project.

Picked up some cool restoration projects for the weekend that I've been sneaking time to work on between the rain ☔ ☔ ☔ but first: bread. A 60/20/20 white/whole wheat/rye sourdough using 70% hydration with about half of that from Sweater Weather stout.

The crumb is a little foolish and out of control but it has an rich, malty taste to it that makes it swell to eat with just a little butter.

On Saturday I made smørrebrød, a Scandinavian dense rye bread with pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Pretty happy with the result and open face sams. Big thanks to for a great recipe template to guide me and for providing the oatmeal stout used in the dough which I just HAD to finish at 10 am (otherwise it would have been wasted 😋)

Surprisingly only took 1 week for the wood shed to come together. Now I don't have to be the guy with 4 cords of wood under a tarp all winter. Moving on up in the world. Of course I just HAD to use the scraps to make a new wood box for inside, replacing the slapped together pine box built out of necessity three years ago. A huge thank you to the beautiful for all her help dealing with my detail obsession.
