How will you maintain your exercise routine this summer?
Well, the simple answer is you should keep doing what you have been doing if you are doing the rights type of exercise, that includes strength training and moderate intensity cardiovascular exercise 3-4 days per week.
If you are more active around your house, in your garden or around the city, that is great. If you are playing golf, pickelball or any other activity, I want you to keep doing these things. Please know that these do not replace the strength training and moderate intensity cardio you are doing. If you stop doing the structured exercise you have been doing you will see a decrease in your strength and endurance. The longer you go without doing these things, the more drastic your drop off will be.
The lesson here? If you are doing strength and cardio. Keep it up in the summer and consider all of the other stuff as a bonus. We want you to be as active as you can but don't stop the most important stuff.
