Windsor Aquatic Club

As another incredible swim season begins to wrap up, WAC gathered to celebrate the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of our athletes at our annual Awards Banquet. 🏆 This was our biggest one yet with over 300 in attendance!

From regional qualifiers to trial qualifiers—and everyone in between—we are so proud of what our swimmers achieved this season. We were honored to hear from Lou Pococks’ brother and Quinn Matteis as they presented awards to two of our dedicated athletes, making the evening even more special.

We also recognized and celebrated our graduating swimmers. While we will miss them, we are excited to follow their journeys and all that they will accomplish in the future.

Each training group recognized swimmers for Most Improved and Best in Group. Choosing these recipients was no easy task, as every swimmer has shown tremendous growth, commitment, and determination throughout the season.

The evening concluded with the recognition of our ICG Team members, who earned their spots through hard work and outstanding performances. We are especially proud that every athlete on the team represents WAC!

It truly has been a remarkable season filled with personal bests, unforgettable moments, and an incredible number of club records. Thank you to our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and families for making this season one to remember.

The Windsor Aquatic Club is proud to congratulate Isabella Biondo on her acceptance to York University, where she will continue her swimming career while pursuing a degree in Health Sciences! 🎓

It has been a privilege to be part of Isabella’s journey, and we are excited to see all that she accomplishes in this next chapter. We hope she will return to share her experiences and inspire the next generation of WAC athletes.

Michael Yu travelled to Etobicoke to complete at the Jack McCormick Invitational and broke the male 10 & under 800 free (LC) club record from 1989 with a time of 11:45.77! Breaking a record that has lasted more than three decades is an incredible achievement!

Congratulations, Michael, on this outstanding accomplishment!

Last month at Fins Up 5, Valerio Di Matteo made a splash by breaking the WAC boys’ 10 & under 50m breaststroke (LC) club record with an impressive time of 40.75!

Valerio has had an outstanding season, and this record-breaking swim is a testament to his hard work and commitment to improvement. We are incredibly proud of all that he has accomplished this year and can’t wait to see what he achieves next.

The club records weren’t just falling in the individual events at the 2026 Western Region Long Course Championships—they were falling in the relays too!

WAC swimmers combined to break an incredible SIX relay records throughout the meet. Our athletes came together, raced as a team, and delivered some unforgettable performances.

These relays were exciting from start to finish, with races coming down to the final touch. The energy, teamwork, and determination on display made them some of the most thrilling swims of the weekend.

The records kept falling at the 2026 Western Region Long Course Championships!

Henry Ufford added his name to the record books once again, breaking a club record for the boys 13-14 year old 50 breast that he had just set back in March. He also broke the boys 13-14 year old 100 breast from 1983!!!!

What an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the hard work he brings to practice every day.

Why break a record once when you can break it again? 

Just one month after setting the WAC boys’ 11–12 800m freestyle club record, Ethan decided to raise the bar even higher and break his own record!

Miriam Mansour had an incredible weekend at the 2026 Western Region Long Course Championships!

First, Miriam shattered her own WAC girls’ 11–12 800m freestyle club record—just three months after setting it. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, she then went on to break the girls’ 11–12 100m freestyle club record that had stood since 1990!
