New Zealand report 95: On Monday I successfully defended my PhD thesis. It was a 7 year journey, through 6 cities, 3 countries and one helluva difficult time overcoming many obstacles. The journey took me to Grande Prairie, Calgary, Beausejour, and even the Czech Republic!
My ability to stick with it was only possible from all the help from friends, family and of course my supervisors. Thank you to everyone!

New Zealand Report 93:
‘Twas a night long ago in 2017
That I would embark on PhD journey with many obstacles unforeseen.
Despite the setbacks and sacrifices, missing my friends and family
I am happy to say I have finally submitted my PhD.
Poetry aside, I this week I hit a major milestone in my PhD journey. I submitted my PhD thesis for examination. That’s means in another 3 months or so, I will have to opportunity to defend it.
The picture above represents a past me, who had no idea the challenges he would face in trying to complete this thesis. Those challenges included PhD work over 6 years, in 3 countries, 5 cities, through 1 global pandemic, with one lost scholarship. I have evolved so much since this picture was taken and I am forever grateful.
A million thanks to everyone who has helped and supported me. I literally could not have done it without you. Love you all.

New Zealand Report 90: Milford Sound
This was the last and best destination on my New Zealand “sites to see”. Everything else is icing.
It was beyond breathtaking and I will never forget it.

I had the pleasure of catching up with my friend who has just opened his own gym. Grant is an awesome trainer and the facility is so well designed.
Well done my friend!

I never say good-bye, it’s always “until the next time”. That is because you never know how people will show up in your life again. Here are a couple of the many stories where this has happened:
In one photo is my friend who I met through my friend Brendan on a beach in New Zealand in 2020. She was teaching his son some track drills. She is a BOSS so look her up on LinkedIn and her website love2move.ca , turns out I also work with her brother on occasion through
The other photo is from a summit in 2015 where Richard Way (far right) the CEO of the Sport for life society, and (middle) presented on physical literacy. I ended up being taught by Dean during my masters (one of the best classes of my life). Also, now I work for Sport for life. So Full circle!

Last week I attended the 2022 Partners congress, where I finally got to meet my amazing co-workers from the Sport for life Society for the first time in person.
The congress included basically all the organisations that facilitate sport in Canada including .ca many national sport organisations and Sport for life.
I met so many wonderful people. I look forward to the future of Sport in Canada.

I had a blast presenting for yesterday. They are doing a fantastic job with long term development of youth in their sport!
