Tesshin Winnipeg’s Sunday morning keiko 😃
On Saturday, we held our regular practice, followed by Sunday morning keiko. Despite the early start at 6:30 a.m., many members joined the practice.
We had Westhead Sensei ( ), the Head Instructor of Tesshin Dojo in both Calgary and Winnipeg, leading the keiko.
We were also pleased to welcome several visitors to train with us. Thank you for joining us!

徹心Winnipegの、日曜の朝稽古の様子です。
徹心道場カルガリーとウィニペグのHead InstructorであるWesthead先生の指導のもと、土曜日は通常稽古、日曜日は朝稽古を行いました。午前6時半と朝早い時間にもかかわらず、たくさんのメンバーが参加し、また、近隣の道場からも稽古に来てくださいました。ありがとうございました。

Another fun kids kendo class at CJCA () Thursday evening!

We reviewed footwork basics and practiced men (head strike) movements using towels and balloons 🎈😊🎈. Some kids also got to try the shinai for the first time!
And look at their excellent seiza posture! They also demonstrated great manners. “Rei ni hajimari, rei ni owaru” (礼に始まり、礼に終わる) - everything begins and ends with respect 😌. It is a foundational principle of Japanese budo (martial arts).

木曜日はキッズ剣道クラスでした！
風船やタオルを使ったゲームを通して、面の動きを練習しました。何人かは、実際に竹刀を使った素振りにも挑戦しました。
楽しみながらも真剣に稽古に取り組み、また、正座での姿勢も素晴らしかったです！
礼に始まり、礼に終わる。剣道/武道の基本をしっかり学んでいます☺️

May 23rd (Sat) was a double practice day!
Tesshin YYC visited Sturgeon Kendo Club ( ) in Edmonton in the morning and enjoyed a great keiko with its members, Shion Miyash*ta senshu (*ta , Team Canada), and kendoka from surrounding dojos.

In the evening, at Tesshin’s keiko in Calgary, we were joined by visiting kendoka including our guests from Sturgeon making for a fun and energetic practice😃

Yesterday, we were joined by three members from Tesshin Winnipeg, including Gabac Sensei.
We really enjoyed practicing together and appreciated the great spirit and energy they brought to the dojo!
We look forward to keiko together again!

Kendo is a Japanese martial art that helps children build focus, confidence, and respect. Through guided practice and positive challenges, kids stay active while learning in a fun and supportive environment.
This program introduces children to the fundamentals of kendo in a fun, welcoming, and structured environment🙂

Tesshin Calgary and Winnipeg teamed up at the JCCC tournament (Toronto) on Saturday! Tesshin did great in both individuals and team matches, and P.Jo received the Fighting Spirit Award – well deserved!
Sunday was grading day! Tesshin welcomes four new 2-Dan and one 4-Dan! Congratulations everyone !!
