Our very own Ms. Jasmine de Luna and Mr. Jaethro de Luna will be competing at the US Open Taekwondo Championships 2026 this weekend! 🔥🥋🥋🔥

They will be the very first athletes to represent Spirit 1 Taekwondo Academy at this prestigious tournament — what an incredible milestone for our team!

This is a major international tournament, with almost 1,800 athletes competing. Jasmine’s division has 19 competitors, and Jaethro’s division has 51 competitors. The level of competition will be high, and they will be facing some of the best athletes on the international stage.

Jasmine and Jaethro, you’ve been training for a long time. Trust your training. Trust the countless hours, the sacrifices, the discipline, and the preparation. You have done everything to get ready for this moment. Now go out there with confidence, courage, and heart.

Trust in your hard work, stay focused, and leave everything on the mat.

⭐️📌Spirit 1 family, let’s send them all our positive energy, strength, and best wishes as they compete. We are so proud of you both — go make history! 💙🥇🥇

Behind every medal and every match are sacrifices most people never see.

Months of disciplined training, early mornings, sore bodies, weight management, mental battles, and choosing the hard path. This is what it took for these young athletes to earn their place at the Taekwondo National Championships 2026.

We are so proud of our Spirit 1 National Athletes.

Day 1 - Juniors
🥉 Jasmine – Bronze Medalist
Jasmine fought with confidence and heart, and when it mattered most, she delivered her trademark spin kick, earning a decisive win against a tough opponent. Her bronze medal reflects her dedication and ability to rise under pressure.

Day 2 - Cadets
🥉 Kaylee – Bronze Medalist
Facing stronger and tougher competitors, Kaylee’s matches were intense and demanding. Still, she stayed composed, fought through every challenge, and persevered to secure bronze, proving her resilience and determination.

🥉 Madeline – Bronze Medalist (National Debut)
In her first National Championships, Madeline showed exceptional courage. Despite bruised ribs from a previous opponent, she pushed through pain and adversity, never backing down, and earned a bronze medal. It is an incredibly admirable display of grit and heart.

🥋 Jaethro – 2 Wins
Jaethro earned two hard-fought wins, facing tough opponents, including previous medalists. Advancing was no easy task, but his perseverance and fighting spirit carried him through.

🥋 Lyka – First National Win
Despite the nerves, Lyka stayed strong and focused. She didn’t give up, fought until the end, and secured her first National win, a huge milestone in her journey.

🥋 Xavier – Growth on the National Stage
With almost 20 athletes in his division, advancing was extremely challenging. Still, Xavier never stopped pushing. The growth he showed on the mats - in confidence, composure, and effort was truly impressive.

We would also like to thank the parents who supported these athletes every step of the way, driving them everywhere and anywhere just to get them the training they needed. Your constant support, sacrifices, and encouragement made all of this possible.

To the Spirit 1 family, friends, relatives and sponsors, thank you for all your support and for cheering them on during their fights, even if it was through watching them live on YouTube. Your energy, prayers, and belief meant more than words can express.

So proud of this team and everything they represent.

So proud of Ms. Jasmine de Luna for winning 🥉 Bronze at the 2026 Taekwondo National Championships!

Jasmine earned this bronze medal through pure grit and determination in her fights. Working hard every round and never backing down. 💪
She dominated her first match with a significant point gap, showcasing her trademark spin back kick and advancing to the semi-finals in style. 💥

In her last fight, she battled all the way to the third round, pushing through a very close match and narrowly losing by just a few points.

We are incredibly proud of your heart, effort, and performance, Jasmine! 👏🔥

Year-End Wrap-Up!

We finally wrapped up the year-end Colour Belt Promotion test, Spirit 1 Taekwondo 9 years Anniversary, Academy Award, and Christmas party at Spirit 1 Taekwondo Academy! This year's Academy Award was initially scheduled for October but was postponed to December due to our Spirit 1 Fundraising Social taking place in October. We decided to move the Academy Award to December 6 to ease the financial burden on our parents, allowing us to celebrate both the Colour Promotion test and Spirit 1’s 9-year anniversary along with Christmas party.

Saturday, December 6, was a fantastic day, running from 10 AM to 4 PM. Hundreds of students and their family members gathered to make this special event truly unforgettable. It was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces and to celebrate our accomplishments over the past nine years. Many parents expressed their excitement for the upcoming 2026 Training in the Park and future family gatherings.

We are immensely grateful for all the blessings that have helped us maintain our status as one of the largest Taekwondo Academies in Manitoba. We look forward to seeing all of you in 2026 and continuing this amazing journey together!
