I was told a quote last night that resignated with me. And as hunters we are all guilty of this at one point or another.
"If your going to quit anything this year, quit demeaning yourself and the deer you tagged. Be proud of the hunt you had and the deer you tagged."
Now I am proud of this deer for many reasons. Although in my younger years I figured shooting bigger deer was a right of passage. I used to read the hunting magazines and it was all about big deer and very rare you would hear about just be proud of the deer you harvested. Over the years I've learned that was not the case. Just being able to harvest a deer and be with family during the harvest is the best thing one can do in my mind.
Big shout out to my brother Caleb Noiles for helping with the messy part. And big shout out to my dad Stephen Noiles for putting up with me over the years and teaching me almost everything I know about hunting. Seeing his smile and the high five after letting the led fly was all I needed. This year was the first time in a long time all 3 of the Noiles boys had a hand in a harvest. This animal is well respected and is being used accordingly.
So to all the hunters out there, especially the younger ones, it's not about the size of the "rack". Size does not earn you respect. Maybe in some people's eyes but at the end of the day that's not at all what matters. And screw anyone who says so.
