Happy 40th birthday to Dusty Molinski! Dusty is a long time Northern Soul colleague, friend, and fellow traveller who has spent years with us on the portage, and the snowshoe trail at Festival. All the best Dusty on your day of aging.

Bluewater pilot Jonathan Friesen,along with two passengers, has perished in a crash last week. He was a long-time pilot of our trips, and he was always quick to give our kids a flight experience when he could. His wife Tania also supported our trips through the Bluewater office, and we pray for her and their children.

Jonathan was a consummately skilled and cautious pilot. As he banked and turned over the Bloodvein looking for the best landing spot, I knew he had our safety utmost in his thoughts. Always generous with his time and advice, he was a good friend to many guides.

Jonathan you will be missed. Thank you for your service and care.

Launching the war canoes for the season at Taylor Statten. 36 paddlers per canoe! These striking Peterboroughs were brought to the camp by train in the 1920s and restored this winter to their former glory.

Great to be back at Tim Horton’s Camp Whiteshell for an 8 day Wilderness First Responder course. With 52 students and 6 instructors on site this was the largest Wilderness Medical Associates gathering in Manitoba yet! Check out my moulage below and a great splinting job from the students.

Heading to Atikokan High School this week to teach a two day Wilderness First Aid with Holly Kondreska. Looking forward to meeting and working with all the students - "Outers" - in their out-tripping program! Great to be back in Quetico country.
