On Friday April 17th, we celebrated the end of the curling season at Deer Lodge! Thank you for all the support from those that attended, and congratulations to all the winning teams.

Today we’d like to highlight some of the members who received special honours at the end of the 2025-26 season, all photographed with our current President Scott Peterson.

Thank you to Kris Kough and Corey Thompson who were inducted as Honorary Lifetime Members!

Kris was Club President from 2018-2021 and Club Champion in 1999. He helped manage and oversaw the club at the onset and throughout the entire pandemic. This period saw many clubs close across Canada, Kris and his hard work kept the club going through a challenge not seen in generations. Kris also was pivotal in helping change the curling club to a non-profit. Thank you Kris!

Corey Thompson was the following President from 2021-2025 and is a fellow club champion in 2016. Corey saw the establishment of the “Raise the Roof” campaign to repair both the barn roof and flat roof as well as setting up a strategic planning committee for future endeavours. He was pivotal in helping with the amalgamation of Deer Lodge and Thistle curling club. Thank you Corey!

Finally, Chris Lysak was honoured with the Sam Brown Memorial Volunteer award! Chris was the key lead in helping the curling club write the proper grants to buy the equipment to set up our brand new, on-ice camera system to capture and project on televisions found on the second floor. Chris also was the primary lead on installation over the summer of 2025. Thank you Chris!

"We missed it by how much". 21 Seconds?

Our Big Canadian Shootout, 30 mins to get a maximum number of rocks on the pin. On the pin by David W at 10 min, Reg S at 21 min, and Dave H at 30 min and 21 seconds!

Chantelle was a great HACK BOSS orchestrating a torrent of delivered rocks, Doug B at the house end beckoning rocks onto the pin! Chris L with his magic rink camera work! 22 Participants delivering 100 rocks in 30 minutes. And incredible ice of course courtesy of the ice lads!

Another club in town actually got three pins in the allowed 30 mins!
Not sure how the remainder of Canada prospered.

Good but exhausting time had by all! Maybe next year!
