What is pre-stretching?

Pre-stretching is a technique used in badminton stringing to remove the elasticity from the strings. This is done while stringing which prevents the strings from stretching and allows the tension bed to remain consistent. The machines that are capable of pre-stretching are electronic and drop weight machine.

Here at Repel Badminton we use the Wise 2086 electric tensioner, one of the best in the world.

People always ask, " What is the best tension?"

Everyone plays the game differently and have a different feel when it comes to tension. It can either make you feel like you have no power in your shots or makes you feel like you hit like a pro.

The general rule is increase the tension by at lease 2lbs from your current tension and see how that feels. If you make a bigger jump in string tension the high chance of injuries cause by trying to adjust to the higher tension.

In this photo you can see a clear difference in color, font size and placement of the Mega Power Logo. The picture on the left is the fake, showing the font to be thicker, color is brighter and the distance from the Li-Ning Logo to the Mega Power Logo is off compared to the real Li-Ning racket (Picture on the right)

Note/ Tip #4
One of the signs of a non-genuine/fake racket is by looking at the grommets. In this picture (Left side) the quality of the grommets are poor with a rounded lip around the grommet versus a genuine (Right side)

Have you ever notice that some rackets come with strings already strung when you purchase the racket?

Usually beginner/ intermediate rackets come with string at around 16-18lbs making the string bed very soft and limited. These types of rackets usually can handle 22-25lbs!

So if you want to have a better feel and play-ability during games, come and get it restrung today!

Protect you racket!

When your strings break, ALWAYS cut all the strings to remove the remaining tension. Leaving broken tensioned strings on a racket can compromise the frame structural integrity, resulting in cracks.

Thicker gauge strings are designed for durability where as thinner gauge strings are made more for performance, delivering more repulsion, control and power.
