ꜰɪʟɪᴘɪɴᴏ ᴍᴀʀᴛɪᴀʟ ᴀʀᴛꜱ (ꜰᴍᴀ) has many different styles that develops skill and attributes across all ranges of combative movement — from weapons, to striking, to grappling. Here are the core disciplines that make up our curriculum:
ᴅᴜᴍᴏɢ is Filipino-style grappling. The main concept of moving an opponent from point A (stand-up) to point B (ground) using elbows, knees, forearms, and both large and small joint manipulation.
ᴀʀɴɪꜱ is the weapons training component of Arnis and can be categorized into 4 main types — blunt/impact (sticks, hammers), bladed (knives, machetes), flexible (chains, belts), and projectile (coins, throwing knives) — as well as defending against them with empty hands. At Combat Lab, we teach the Burokil Alambra Arnis De Mano system (B.A.A.D).
ᴘᴀɴᴀɴᴛᴜᴋᴀɴ is Filipino-style boxing (FMA dirty boxing). Unlike mainstream boxing, it incorporates elbows, eye gouges, and other close-range techniques beyond punching — earning it the reputation of “dirty fighting.”
ᴘᴀɴᴀɴᴅʏᴀᴋᴀɴ is the Filipino art of low kicking. Mainly aiming for lower body strikes - thighs, knees, shins, and feet. Leg sweeping techniques are also incorporated.
ꜱɪᴋᴀʀᴀɴ is the Filipino art of kicking. This is the sport martial aspect of FMA that deploys high kicks and emphasizes the spin kick (called the biakid).
