Build the kind of life you don't need a break from. That's easy to say but it's hard to even know where to start.

On top of the physical practice most people are familiar with, yoga has a super rich wisdom tradition *full* of teachings for building your best life.

Join me in 2023 to explore some of them together.

Join me in 2023 for a guided tour of yoga's ethical teachings, the Yamas and Niyamas. We'll explore a different one each month, bookending the year with self-reflection.

January's theme is foundations. Checking in to find our baseline as we set off on a year-long journey to dive deep into the ethical teachings of yoga. Each month we'll explore a new principle through asana, meditation, journalling, service, and community.

Follow here for more updates and January's calendar, or sign up through my website to get updates by email.

Give yourself a chance to wind down before bed. Find a corner on the floor to try a few gentle movements and see what happens ๐Ÿ™‚ Some suggestions:

- standing back bend
- dangle forward fold
- child's pose
- front-side savasana
- butterfly
- legs up the wall
- twist (both sides)
- savasana

Maybe even do it in bed and let yourself fall asleep in that sweet final pose.

Chinook is one today! I never thought Iโ€™d ever get a puppy, but here we are. Now I canโ€™t imagine my life without him. Looking forward to another decade of adventures with this beautiful little guy. What a journey.

So one thing all the successful online yoga teachers have is a partner who is a photographer and/or videographer.

Very tempted to consider re-opening applications for a full time partner in New Brunswick ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜‰

They also all have cute dogs. At least I have that one covered ๐Ÿ˜„

"Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional"

This quote is attributed to various Eastern sages, sometimes Patanjali.

It's not surprising it's so widely quoted and ambiguously sourced. Pain is a universal feature of the human experience. Wisdom traditions from every culture in every corner of the world have been grappling with how to handle being human for as long as they've existed. Ancient texts offer endless insight into the art of living, especially the hard parts. The teachings of yoga are among the oldest wisdom literatures we have, passed down and refined through millennia of contemplation.

A wholistic yoga practice trains more than our bodies. Through physical movement, we can engage our minds and get in touch with our souls, where growth can happen. Through studying the wisdom teachings of yoga, we can learn how to cope with whatever life throws at us. Even (especially) when it's not what we wanted.
