Clerc strengthened its presence in the submarine world through an association with Sub Aviators Systems – SAS -, the first company able to produce and sell personal submarines that literally fly under the surface. To celebrate this union, the brand invited a few journalists and bloggers to pilot by themselves the Super Aviator in the bay of Vancouver, Canada. The Super Aviator is a functioning prototype of the future Orcasub submarine, a its luxurious evolution. Diving with it was one of the most stunning experiences. It was super easy to pilot and allows to explore the aquatic world slowly, in perfect conditions and up to 1800 meters deep for the most expensive version of the Orcasub, worth about 10 millions USD.CEO of Clerc, Gerald Clerc underlines the synergies between the two companies in innovation, marketing and testing products. Attached on the external dashboard, a Clerc Hydroscaph model resisted perfectly the depth of 160 meters I reached by pointing the nose of the Super Aviator directly to the bottom of the ocean – that we didn’t reach. “Rabbit”, alias the code name of John Jo Lewis, Managing Director of SAS and main pilot, and “Tiger”, my own one, came back safe.

You don’t need to be James Bond to pilot your own personal submarine, but you do need $1.8 million. Fortunately, we had a chance to take one for a dip anway.
