Geneva Eagles CC vs Geneva International CC-2
Result: GICC-2 won by 1 wicket
This match marked a historic moment for Geneva International Cricket Club, as the club fielded its second team – GICC-2 – for the very first time. The formation of this second team is a reflection of the incredible growth of the club and the depth of quality players being developed.
GICC-2 bowled first and delivered a highly disciplined performance, restricting Geneva Eagles to 121/8 in their 20 overs. Notably, the bowlers didn’t concede a single six – a testament to their tight lines and smart bowling. Abdul Waseh was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/12, while Shubham also chipped in with 2 wickets. Malakzada Sharif and Sattar Muhammad both bowled economically and picked up a wicket each, applying consistent pressure throughout the innings.
In reply, the chase began steadily but turned tense as wickets fell at regular intervals. Pema Rinchen played a vital stabilizing knock, scoring 18 off 33 balls, anchoring one end and providing much-needed calm during the early middle phase. The momentum of the innings was later shifted by a brilliant counter-attacking innings from Malakzada Sharif, who smashed 42 off just 16 balls, including five towering sixes, and was deservedly named Player of the Match.
Despite Sharif’s heroics, the game went down to the wire. At 119/9, it was left to Captain Shaleesh Baburaj and Vice-Captain Syed Shehzad Ahmad to hold their nerve and guide the team home. They did just that, securing the win in the 20th over and sealing a thrilling one-wicket victory.
This hard-fought win not only showcases the talent within GICC-2 but also highlights the bright future of the club as a whole. A debut to remember!

GICC Not Just Expands Its Squad – We Start with a Bang!
The season is officially underway, and GICC is off to a flying start with back-to-back wins in our practice matches against 11 Stars and Cern Cricket Club!
In our first game, we witnessed a dream debut as one of our newest players smashed a brilliant century – a perfect way to kick off his journey with the club. We’re excited to see more performances like this as the season unfolds.
The second match was all about experimentation and giving everyone match practice. With strong numbers in the squad, we ensured everyone got a chance to showcase their skills. Newcomer Rehan impressed with the ball, picking up 3 wickets in just 3 overs while keeping things tight. Jugs also kept it tidy, conceding only 8 runs in his spell.
But the standout moment of the match – and the well-deserved Man of the Match – goes to our veteran Amar, who lit up the game with a blazing 70 off just 28 balls, including 8 towering sixes!
With the squad looking strong and energy high, we truly believe GICC has the potential to make a big name in Swiss cricket this season. Let’s keep the momentum going!
