Courtney Duncan grew up in the small rural town of Palmerston, New Zealand, where her passion for motocross began at just seven years old under the guidance of her stepfather. With no women’s classes available, she raced against boys throughout her youth, quickly proving her talent and determination.

Inspired by watching the FIM Motocross World Championship on television, Courtney set herself one goal: to become World Champion. After progressing through New Zealand and Australian competitions, she joined the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship in 2016. The first years brought injuries, setbacks and near misses, including finishing just two points short of the title, but she refused to give up.

A move to Kawasaki and Dixon Racing in 2019 proved to be the turning point. Courtney dominated the season to claim her first FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship title, becoming only the third New Zealander to win a motocross world title. In 2020, despite a major crash, a DNF and a disrupted COVID-19 season, she fought back to successfully defend her crown. She added a third consecutive title in 2021, cementing her place among the sport’s greats.

After missing part of the 2022 season due to injury, Courtney returned with race victories and captured her fourth world title in 2023. Remaining focused on achieving more success and reflecting on her journey, she hopes to leave a lasting legacy in the sport and continues to inspire the next generation with her belief that "You can make it happen if you have the determination, discipline and heart.”
